Why are so many bomber formations flying so low? I haven't come across one higher then 10k on a regular basis since 1.10
Is it that hard to hit targets at alt or people just being lazy?

LOL........first time I've heard mention of it.......I noticed a lot of them flying low, but the ones I saw were trying to ackstar.
On the other hand, those who take the buffs upstairs to do a "historical" bomb run get called stratobuffs and the like........
Sometimes, ya just can't win.......;)

Lower alt means better accuracy, before this version all my ops were at 20,000+ now most ops are carried out at about 14-15,000 I guess as folks get better at aiming etc they'll take it up a little. :)

Two main reasons.
First,
Currently wind only begins at 14000feet, so below that bombers dont have to worry about it.
Second, after reaching bombing altitude, you must fly straight and level for 10-20miles for your speed to be stable. So where bombers used to be climbing still, they must now be flying level.

And because people don't want to take the time to climb to altitude.

in WW2 , bombing of mainland japan, Gen Lemay ordered the bombers to drop from 8,000 ft , he said they could not hit targets from 20,000 ft

I've been bombing from 20-25k and getting hits. Sometimes.
Climbing to that altitude isn't a problem; I usually time the mission so I can take a shower, do a quick errand, or eat, while on auto-climb. I've only been shot down a few times while afk.

Once you get the calibration process down, it's not that hard to get the bombs to drop where you want them, even from altitude. You have to remember when dropping from above the wind layer that if you maneuver more than about five degrees either way after calibrating your sight, the wind triangle is going to change enough to throw off the aim point.
From a formation run with Lancasters I made on the Bishop HQ last night:

I hit the pickle switch before the sight had reached the corner of the HQ, or the bomb trail would have been aligned better. The crosshairs are misaligned because I switched back to calibration mode to follow the target.
