IMHO the sheep of Aces High are well overdue for a cut. Taking it upon myself to fulfill such a noble obligation I try to make the process as quick and as painless as possible. I have found the best manouver for this procedure to be the "aborted augur". Unfortunately, I am unable to glory in the sight of sheering sheep with the prop at ~ 430 mph as the world has gone dark on me. Thank God say I, that I am a man blessed with the extraordinary ability to withstand massive G loading without blacking out.... it mearly makes me blind or a moment or two. I dread to think what would have happened it instead I actually became unconcious, and the aircraft out of control..............

Hold on to that pull for a bit longer.

just me, or do those extended black outs happen more frequent now?

Hang on Fatty, are you saying that blackouts do take away control of the aircraft? I for one am quite proud of some of my landings whilst the world has gone all dark on me.

Darkish,
If you hold a high G manuver too long the blackout seems to become unconciousness. I've had it happen to me at least once. I was in a Spit IX being attacked by three P-51Ds and had altitude to burn, so I pulled into an insane downward spiral that there was no chance the P-51Ds could match. I was blacked out for a long time, then when I let up on the stick the blackout didn't recede. I tried for a bit to get vision back, then I hit the ground.
A blackout should not take away the control of the aircraft as a blackout doesn't indicate anything more than your eyes not getting enough blood to work. You are still fully concious in a blackout.
Hold it too long though and it can become a loss of conciousness and you do lose control of the aircraft with that.

You do not have to pull to a total blackout to go unconscious. I have been pulling out of a dive in a P-47 with the screen about half dark and have my face go into the instrument panel. I have had it happen twice and they both occurred when getting back to level flight so no crashes. Have not tried to maneuver while unconscious though. HTC made a very interesting effect. If you haven't seen it, recommend you try it -- off-line of course.

you sure your pilot wasn't injured?

If he is landing and blacking out then yeah he has to be wounded +)
