Title: somebody explain this too me...
Post by: Kronos on July 29, 2002, 11:54:10 PM
I've been having trouble with my Saitek controllers ever since I installed windows XP.  I've been to Ron Hunts webpage, (which is no longer being maintained from what I understand)  and followed their instructions.  Make a long story short, that didn't work quite right.

Well, there is a tab on his pages that leads to a message board on SimHQ.com.

Here I found a  wealth of information about the drivers and what to do, although I still have not gotten it to work.  So I had some questions.

I went to register, and found out I couldn't.  My deutsch cable service doesn't give me an email address with it, so I use a hotmail.com email.  WELL, SimHQ will not register "free" email addresses.

I sent an email to them, explaining my situation, and asked if they would authorize me to register. They said no.

So now, I can't get the help at the one place that talks about the saitek drivers more than any other place.

I am a bit upset that because I have a "free" email service I am not entitled to ask questions like those "better" people who have "paying" email services.

Sandman, it gave me a delivery failure notice for that email address.  I doublechecked it to make sure I had it right, still a no-go.

Email me here .   jinx557@hotmail.com

That's odd. I just sent an email to that account from my work. It works.

I'll email you with details when I get home. The fact that you can't find this address makes me wonder if you can use one that I create.

We'll see...

Kronos, i have saitek x45, i used that Hyperscript stuff, and it works wonderfully.
I managed to turn off the pinky switch as a modifier, and just set it up as a directX button.
Essencially, what you want to do is set EVERYTHING on saitek as a directX button, and configure the key mappings within AH itself. Works better then any other mappings i've seen.

In WW2Ol I can map my trim keys to the 2 wheels on the saitek x45 throttle.  This is the absolute BEST method for setting trim I've seen.  In IL2 I can map only one of them :(

Do you know can I do this in AH?

I've got the 2 trim knobs working on my x45 with SGE, you need to seperate sections(up/middle/down) in your trim knob settings and map them to the ijkl keys, it doesn't work exactly like a trim knob(like you have to move it back to the middle to stop it from continuing) but it works.
