In My Opinion
If you can turn off all the music and just enjoy the sweetness of the vocalists voice. And even if the song is something you hate you can still enjoy the voice. Then you have found a Billie Holiday, or a Patsy Cline.
-
Judy Collins... perfection
and (now don't laugh) Karen Carpenter. (stop that!)
-
(snicker)
-
Dusty Springfield had a hell of a voice
Laugh at this one:
Frankie Valli
Geoff Tate

Ah Yes. Frankie Valli. His number 1 hit I really like, "Walk like a man, sing like a girl".
-
Ah yes. We reply but fail to use our brain to come up with someone else who has made more than myself. Life is rough

Willie Nelson

One of the "traveling wilbury's" good choice. Wasn't he one of the "Outlaws" too?

If you're alive (which may be questionable) you sing better than they do too!
-
Axle rose is the man!
:):D
-
ehm...

Btw listen a song "Highway man" from Cash, Nelson, Jennings and Kristofferson. Now if there would be Tammy Wynette also singing the song would be perfect.
-
Although I don't think "best" is very acurate, I'd much rather hear Leonard Cohen sing than most anyone else. He's sort of the opposite of Franky Valli lol.

After reading all these choices I've decided I want to go to Red Ants house to drink a beer and take in some tunes.
Great lists bud!

I have to agree with that one. I might add that he does it without coming off stuffy and arrogant too. Very admirable.
BTW Red Ant... I think your assessment of Neil Peart in the other thread was close to the truth... though your hatred for the gentleman may be a tad bit excessive;) I like Rush, but feel they have a tendancy to be too anistheptic. Crisp clean and cold.

The one that throws me is Sheryl Crow.
She's one of my favorite female vocalists but she doesn't strike me as having a particularly strong voice.
Like the older stuff on the list though..
If I were to pick a modern female vocalist, I'd probably choose Shirley Manson.
-
Easy...
Rod Stewart with Jeff Beck..

C'mon over, we're in the same state :)
-
hehe, it's a big State. You are one of the few people I have talked to who feels like I do about Little Feat.
I think they cut the best live album ever.
-
Chris Cornell hands down

Bradley Nowell - very versatile and he makes girls melt :)
