Title: I shot down a C47 with a shore battery.

Has this been done before?

We were in a desperate last ditch battle to save our port. After 30 minutes of hard fighting, we were on our last legs.... I was looking to man an AA gun.... but could only find this freakin huge jobbie.

I got a F6F with a shore battery a couple months ago...silly hellcat.

I've done that too, defending a port and the only gun left was a shore gun.  Managed to catch the C47 in the blast of a hit that landed in the water directly under it.

Sure, I've got several kills on aircraft that flew directly at the gun. What I find to even more fun is to kill aircraft right on the CV deck with the SB. I imagine that once a pilot gets whacked by a shore battery, he learns to attack them from the sides and rear. If he doesn't, well, he will lose more aircraft. Only drawback to SB is reload time.

Hehe, ironic...I killed F6F with Shore Battery few months back and IIRC it was brendo himself. :)

Ships, Planes, GV's...

Most of the planes were F4U's, or Spits, but I think there was a B26 too.
