nope. I've slowly collected the 21's over time, my oldest 21 is 4 years old would have cost like $2100 then but I got it new for $600.
The other 2 21's are Sony Trinitrons (Black) and about 6months old.
1600x1200 32bit I get about 85FPS as low as 20 in smoke on my two main machines.
I still have pretty good eye sight (no contacts or glasses yet) and I still lean forward to see the GV's or low flying dots, they're pretty damn small! :D
I can say that the monitors look great but they sure as hell don't make me any better and I have the stats to prove it!

Funny story...
I brought home a $10K dollar projector for the weekend and hooked it up to my pc when I lived in a downtown loft that had a huge blank wall. I played Aces High and Everquest on the wall, about 10foot by 10foot.
Looked good but was very difficult to fly.

21" here thanks to my squad.

GeForce 3 + 21" Flat Tube! :)
-
I have a 17 inch monitor now and soon I might pick up a 20 ro 21. Isn't it possible to throw in a pci video card connect the 17 inch monitor to it and have a 2nd monitor that I can constantly keep my 6 view on while I play the game normally from my 21 inch? I thought I heard something like that once, maybe from another game forum. Would that be considered cheating?
-
ummm we are talking monitor size here, aren't we?
-
Recomendations as to make and model?

AH doesn't specifically support a second monitor, so you can't use it for any in-game settings, but I use my second 15" so I always have an eye on WinAMP and Roger Wilco. I suppose you could even throw a graphics program with a map up on the screen if you wanted to!

I'm using a Sony Trinitron G500 Flat Tube...it's wonderful! Problem is when you sit in front of another large monitor that isn't flat screen - it looks like a huge bulge! :) Anyhow, if you've got the budget, I think this is a great monitor. Ask Skuzzy tho'...he's a super computer geek, and always has a good answer...including an NEC model that has the same tube as mine but a higher refresh rate! (i think it was a higher refresh rate!)

Yes, Sony Trinitron flat screen Multiscan 500PS at 120 HZ. Icons are still too small :D
Anyone running AH on HDTV? Need more reports on projectors.

It was a great deal at $999 2 years ago.
Still is 100% and i tell ya..seeing a plane
blow up or loose pieces on this is almost like being there :)

What's cheating about a 21" monitor?
And yeah, I am.

21 inches here, (about 3 years) and really enjoy it.
No sun that would not be cheating. Would do it myself if I had the $ and knew how. ;) I have heard of guys settng up a screen to the left and right with their left and right views also.

It would be cool to have 8 monitors for views and 1 for readio and clipboard :)
Just think of the money you would save as you only have to buy joysticks without hat switches :D
-
21 here.. actually I think I like the 19 better.
I'm currently switching back and forth trying to decide ...
-
them big monitors will fry your gonads. :p

Yes, I have the NEC-950, which uses the Trinitron tube but runs at higher refresh rates. A few months ago NEC introduced the 955 model which has higher refresh rates than the 950 (up to 200Hz!), which makes that particular monitor the fastest monitor on the planet. It is only 19" though.
However, as my wife requires CAD in her job, she just got a 24" Sony flat screen and ,..well,...playing any game on it is very scary. Frakin graphics are in your face. Talk about immersion,..oy!
I probably will not upgrade my monitor until the Radeon 2 is shipping, as it looks like it will have the horsepower to push 1600x1200x32 bit graphics to the speed I prefer.
And yes,..I am a geek. :D

Just as I had suspected....this sim is full of cheaters!!!
:D
Tell me this....when you made the change from a 19" to a 21", did it make that big of a diff?
I noticed a marked improvement when I made the jump from 17" to 19".
-
The thing I like about the 21" Monitor is you can set up close to it and play for hours. Then when it is time for you to go to bed.. you can shut your eyes and play for 3 more hours because the images are burned into your brain so completely! :D More ACES HIGHbang for your buck!

the 21 is better for me since my eyes (and me) are a bit older :)
Plus, I can sit back away from the monitor so I don't get so much eye-strain.
(and yes,, I used to be a CAD guy, hence the large monitor)
from 19 to 21.. big difference as long as the rest of the specs are comparible.
dot pitch, refresh rate, etc.
