Title: Oldies but Goldies: Grand Prix Legend
Post by: Staga on August 05, 2002, 04:21:09 PM
Still having old copy of GPL laying around?

That game, even if it's old as heck, Is still better driving game than most of the new ones. Players have made lots of updated graphics and new tracks.

One of the best physics models to grace the auto-simm world.  Same engine was used in NASCAR (5) 2002  from what I understand.

GhostFT is super into that one.

I played this game a while back for a bit. It was fun however I did so when I was still on my last system a Dual 333MHZ system. It didnt run as well as it could have but I had fun with it. Recomended if you are into car games.

PS: Those elbows need to be bent!

Senna it runs smoothly in 1,4GHz TB / 768Mb / Gf4Ti4200 1600*1200 with AA on...
IIRC last time I played it I had Celeron 400MHz with TNT2Ultra and I was having quite poor framerates.

I was playing it for a while with the group from warbirds..great game, really fun especially for an older game..

try E-bay also there is a patch to update the graphics..

it can be hilariously funny getting into some of those races as a walkin.

It can be supremely frustrating when yer first learning it and yer amazingly slow..alot of time is made up in very subtle ways..not just gunning it and trying to rip around the turns..

It's alot of fun to drive with a group of friends in scheduled races against each other.

GPL is still the standard for car physics modelling!

I used to race in several leagues even with some of the big guys.

The only drawback i find to racing sims...  having to concentrate for a whole race.. Some of the races I competed in lasted 90 minutes!!  Thats about the only reason I don't still race, a 20 minute race is fun, any less and its just a sprint and ya find more road warriors than anything else.  Any longer and it gets to be tiresome and hell on the brain +)
