Hortlund remarked in the "Performing Songwriter" thread that Springsteen was one of the best and how the live version of "The River" gives him goosebumps.
What songs do that to you? What songs give you goosebumps or chills or stop you from breathing?
I'm with Hortlund on "The River." The monologue at the beginning is wrenching...
Others on my list:
Sheryl Crow, "The Difficult Kind"
Third Eye Blind, "Wounded"
Trying to think of others...
-
"Something About England"
-The Clash, from "Sandinista"
"They say the immigrants steal the hubcaps of respected gentlemen,
it would be wine and roses, if England were for Englishmen again..."

I grew up in the Ozarks of Arkansas and hearing "Dueling Banjos" along with thoughts of Ned Beaty always gave me the bizarre feeling, including goosebumps.
-
There are certain songs that I consider a "religious experience". My kids will automatically shut up when these tunes come on the radio.... ok, thats a lie,.... but I tell them to shut up, or turn up the volume to ear splitting levels.
Free Bird - Play it really loud
Back in NYC by Genesis - Even Louder!
Live version of Roundabout by Yes - loud again
Can You See the real Me -The Who Quadrophenia (listen to that bass!)
Live Dixie Chicken - Little Feat
Not so Loud:
Anything by Jackson Browne
Circle Game - Joni Mitchell
Bridge Over Troubled Waters - Simon and Garfunkel
Send in The Clowns - Judy Collins
-
Ditto on Little Feat. Their live version of "This Land Is Your Land" gives me goosebumps and now that's my weekend getaway anthem.
-
The Star Spangled Banner. :)
Entire Florida State University pre-game show. Especially when Miami or Florida is visiting. Though this year, we get Notre Dame at home for the first time. I will admit that it was better playing it than listening to it. Scary, ask me what I miss most about being in college... the 2 hours before kickoff of a FSU home football game.
hmm... Finale of the Firebird Suite gives me goosebumps too.
oh, rock. dunno... Good Vibrations, The Beach Boys. In My Time of Dying, Led Zeppelin. oh yeah, that's the ticket!

Treasure Island by Running Wild and a couple of songs by Maiden and Alice Cooper.

Shuckins...Beetoven's Fifth is strictly reserved for ultra violence...not goose bumps....geeshh
-
Curval, wouldn't that be the Ninth? (if yer referring to Animal's favorite movie that is.)

Actually any of Ludwig Van's stuff would be relevant...I have had a change of heart actually....Shuckins is not wrong...goosebumps can cause all the hair on one's "plot" to stand up...so technically he is correct.
Sorry Shuckins.

Suicidal Tendencies- How will I laugh Tomorrow (When I can't even smile today)
and
Simon and Bigheadedwhiteafroguy- The Boxer

Dune, I have a legal question that came up in another thread- No parole for defendants awaiting trial for their third strike, is there? I'd call and ask my own attorney but the blood sucking leech would bill be 200 dollars for a legal consultation.

Here is Arizona's law on the denial of pre-trial release and bail:
13-3961. Offenses not bailable; preconviction; exceptions
A. A person in custody shall not be admitted to bail if the proof is evident or the presumption great that he is guilty of the offense and the offense charged is a capital offense.
B. A person in custody shall not be admitted to bail if the person is charged with a felony offense and the state certifies by motion and the court finds after a hearing on the matter that there is clear and convincing evidence that the person charged poses a substantial danger to another person or the community, that no condition or combination of conditions of release may be imposed which will reasonably assure the safety of the other person or the community and that the proof is evident or the presumption great that the person committed the offense for which he is charged.
C. Upon oral motion of the state the court shall order the hearing required by subsection B at or within twenty-four hours of the initial appearance unless the person subject to detention or the state moves for a continuance. A continuance granted on motion of the person shall not exceed five calendar days unless there are extenuating circumstances. A continuance on motion of the state shall be granted upon good cause shown and shall not exceed twenty-four hours. The person may be detained pending the hearing. The person shall be entitled to representation by counsel and shall be entitled to present information by proffer or otherwise, to testify, and to present witnesses in his own behalf. Testimony of the person charged given during the hearing shall not be admissible on the issue of guilt in any subsequent judicial proceeding, except as it might relate to the compliance with or violation of any condition of release subsequently imposed or the imposition of appropriate sentence or in perjury proceedings, or for the purposes of impeachment. The case of such person shall be placed on an expedited calendar and, consistent with the sound administration of justice, his trial shall be given priority. Such person may be admitted to bail in accordance with the rules of criminal procedure whenever a judicial officer finds that a subsequent event has eliminated the basis for such detention.
D. The finding of an indictment or the filing of an information does not add to the strength of the proof or the presumption to be drawn therefrom.
E. If there is clear and convincing evidence that a person in custody engaged in conduct constituting a dangerous crime against children, the person poses a substantial danger to another person or the community for the purposes of subsection B.
Off the top of my head I don't know of a law that says someone up for their third strike is ineligible for bail. But that's using AZ law. It may be different in different states. Or even for Federal law.
