Wish the whole Bush administration would get on the same page..........

Agreed. Its becoming more and more obvious that Saudi Arabia is our enemy. I bet the administration knows that, in spite of what the official stance has been in the past.
It raises an interesting question. What will be the reaction in the Islamic countries if/when USA attacks Iraq with little idealogical support from the world?
It seems that, like it or not, our destiny is tied to Israel.

Well, of course our destiny is tied to Israel. We were the main sponsors of the creation of Israel following WW2.
I'm not convinced Saudi Arabia is our enemy. They're more like a wild card in the Middle East, sort of like the Knights of Aces High - not going to win any battles on their own, but will be just strong enough to tip the balance one way or the other.

15 of 19 of the murderers were from Saudi. OBL is from Saudi. All the saudi money that went/goes to fund Al Queda. Saudi's paying for homicide bombers in Isreal. The non-use of their bases in the war to oust the Taliban, after saving their sorry tulips from sadaam. If that doesn't make them our enemy nothing will, they need to pay and pay big along with sadaam.
I like the part where it talks about taking their oil fields, I've been saying that since day one! March our army to the oil fields, plant old glory and tell the saudi's to get off our land......

Destroy all Arabia today and live in peace for another 60 years.
Sounds like a deal.

The problem with making a country an enemy is that it severely narrows the options you have to deal with them. In the case of an "implacable" foe, such as decalring war on all muslims, you narrow it even further. You have to kill them all.
Starting a general war in the entire mideast will end up requiring just that.
If you are "friends" with another state you have many oportunities to influence them and thier actions. Whether it is by trade, lack of trade, technological "toys", cultural exchange or whatever you can make multiple "attacks" to influence the country and eventuall save many lives. Once you drop the options to kill them all, you better be ready to pay the price.
Not a dove mind you, but a realist in the fact that the globe is not a series of totally independant groups of people. Think about it.

Understood and I agree mostly. But if given the choice of living safely in a western society or dealing with terrorist for the rest of my life, I'd rather chose to make it so arabs can no longer terrorize the west or Isreal. We don't need to occupy them either. We need to just make sure that the most technical thing they have is a bicycle! So they can get to work and drill our oil ;)

Why yes I am :D

I wholeheartedly agree with you, Maverack. But the pretend alliance that has been our relationship to Saudi Arabia is becoming obvious to the average American. The fact that the general media has a hold of this issue means that the cat is out of the bag - we've got a Saudi dagger sticking in our backs.

Geez, we need a new power source so the rest of the world (not just us) doesn't have to depend on this region.

Not if you win. Theres no sense in making enemies if your not gona attack them. To make an enemy but not attack is dweeb.
Aint it?

we use oil for a lot more than just energy.

Yea true enough Udie, but there are alternatives to all that stuff too, I'm sure.
I agree with you though. I posted a thread a while back on this very subject. "Forget Iraq. Lets go get Saudi Arabia" was the theme.
But just think of what would happen if we found an alternative energy source and simply said "we don't need you anymore" to the Arabs. No need to spend the money to invade, and then dealing with the ramifications of doing so in the future. All of a sudden the Saudi's have nothing but a few camels and a tent...the way it used to be before they discovered they lived above a veritable gold mine. I think that would be real justice. They would actually have to work to survive instead of allowing huge multinational oil companies to pay them commissions for every barrel of oil extracted from underneath them.
The resulting lack of money in their hands would also work wonders in the fight against terrorism!
