I'm curious.   If you guys had your 'druthers, what would you like to see implemented as the next big feature?



This list excludes the Mission Theater, not because I don't like it, but because I don't consider it a specific game feature.

After action reports like we see in events (i.e so and so took of shot player Y w/ help from player b then  rearmed took off crashed etc etc.)

Or From your list "nightfighters" like p-61 (which flew during the day too anyway :) )

Updated cockpits (just look at the FW190A8 :rolleyes: )
Damage model revamped (catch just the very tip of a wing on a tree, what happens in real life? Wing tip shears...in AH, you explode.)

Sounds like you're getting wish lists, not the actual next big thing.

I think that HT posted a while back that they are actually working on the Sub Mod thing, so I think that'll probably be the next "big change" to AH.

But... This'll sound crazy, but I think the next big thing they should work on is -- UPDATING THE GAME ENGINE.

One of the things that killed AW (aside from being bought by the dolts at EA who can drive any game into the ground by lack of development, support, etc.) was the fact that eventually they had a game engine that was YEARS behind other flight sims through lack of real development/core changes.

AH is still fairly cutting edge, but already we have flight sims out there using newer technology. I'd like to see some core engine development so that we don't end up with tons of new aircraft to fly.... in an obsolete VR environment.

1.More player events
2.Better plane textures or colors so that every plane doesnt blend into the ground texture.
3. Dot/icon vis ranges...reduce substantially.
4. Rather than icon stating 3.0k from you, have it state 3000...that way the planes that are closer to you are easier to track, because they would be the 3 digit icon such as SPIT 800, which stands out at a glance as a threat, while 4 digit icons such as p51 3245 allows you to subconsciously put him on a lower threat level. Or make planes1.0k away dark red, and planes further than that lighter red.
5. Make bombsight a little easier to do...not what it was before, but somewhere in between.
6. Lower Headon hit lethality.
7. Provide briefing rooms(actually would like at top of list with this one)Maps that can be drawn on etc and viewed by all.
8.Provide  a sysytem to capture more complex than just shooting all the town and capturing the whole base as well.
9.Provide the TBD Devastator,B29,B24,PBY
10.Find a way to keep a "good"map up longer. One thing I liked about AW was the feeling of ownership to "your" land. The way this thing resets there is little commitment to defending it.

my single most wanted thing would be to have bases that only certain planes could up from to start with, say pre 1940s aircraft..then have supply drops to enable the bases to upgradeto mor modern aircraft.. if a base is captured it the reverts back to pre 1940s..grass runway ect..think this will improve more team work..

i would also only allow town building to be able to be destroyed by aircraft bombs..gvs stay the same..

i would give buffs a spawn point with a perk charge..allow people to feel they dont have to fly for 45 mins only to have to miss the targ( demoralising you know) spawn point at least 1 sector away..

what you think?:D

I would like to see the concept of rescue operations entering the game, but in a way that wouldn't break the current game model.

For example, if you were just furballin like nuts and didn't care about dying (the 'thank you for shooting my chute, it just gets me into another plane faster!' crowd), you could just hit tower or type .ef like usual and do your thing.

If, however, you were trying to maintain a streak, you could keep it going by being brought back to a friendly base.  Streaks would be a neat game element because the highest ranked pilots could be the ones that were really good, not just the ones that can stay online all day and get top scores via attrition.

Another use could be you doing a special type of mission that just spawned you somewhere inside enemy territory as a person and is set up so that if someone landed and brought you to a friendly base it would give something to the team (ala, simulating an intelligence operation or such) like information on higher production numbers or something.

Rescue operations would be completely voluntary, but it would benefit a score/perk-happy pilot who is rescued and would also benefit the rescuer in the form of perks as well.  Heck, it could even be set up so you could split perks with the rescuer for even more encouragement.

Seaplanes would be a nice way to implement this for ocean bails, btw.

FPS elements- Spawn as one of the 10 troops dropped by a
C-47 in an enemy town to take that towns map room. Also
when you're shot down behind enemy lines (and succesfully
make it to the ground with your parachute) it would be cool
if you could ask for one of your squad teammates to come
and rescue you and try to get you back over the border.
They would only be able to rescue you in a ground or
amphibious vehicle and if the enemy was aware of what
you were attempting it would be a fire fight all the way back
over the border! (or to your nearby offshore CV)

i was thinking that a tank formation option would create a more realistic use of the gv's in the game. such as say....10, i dont know a good number but whatever. the point is that you could actually threaten a base with a formation instead of rolling in with 1 tank, which would never have actually happened.

Like to see a more detailed damage model, not to say this one isnt detailed but as stated above you clip a tree with your wing tip BOOM!!!

Thinki thought was great with IL2 game was that i was bankig real hard and LOW!!!

i geard this deep scraping sound for about 4 seconds and the aircraft kinda rocked a little, i leveled out and carried on fine, when i reviewed the film and watched form exteral view, my wingtip had actually just scraped the grounds, very gently, dust was puffed into the air but that was about it.

This the type of detail im talking about.

Change the hit flashes on distant targets so that they don't light up like a strobe.  This might discourage a lot of the spray and pray shooting.  Modify the damage model for distance shooting so that hits by cannons from 1.6 aren't as deadly...nothing like being hit from half a mile away and losing an entire wing tip.

The next BIG thing will be a revamped damage model, for sure... I mean, subs and seaplanes will be nice too, but the damage model will definitely make the difference.

The next big thing is not upgrading existing components surly your all missing the point... the next big thing surly is something we dont already have.... we already have damage modeling and this post is not call the next big upgrade..:)

Decent damage modelling for Bombers and fighters that dont kill 3 bombers in a single pass,gun posistions on bombers that actually can damage enemy fighters and more early war aicraft instead of more late war bs.

1. Better cockpits - please add (maybe optional) metric gauges!
2. Increased damage model of planes
3. Increased damage model of buildings (let them collapse with a big puff). As it is now it's so unrealistic
4. Nightfighters and...
5. Add bigger targets for carpet bombing (the reality gives the best examples). Why nightfighters when no bombers?
6. Recon! Maybe hide the BIG factories

For me the one big thing I would like to see in AH (Yup OK my "Wishlist") is turbulance from other aircraft, Explosions etc. It has always seemed strange to me that HTC puts all the obvious effort into flight models etc and then you can follow another plane only feet away without any course corrections or blow one up only feet in front and just fly through the explosion with no "Jolt" whatsoever. Oh yes and damage from Explosion Debris as well

Others probably more likely "Better Damage model" Stronger Strat system and some kind of FPS of at least defensive troops.

Subs would be nice but would require an Undersea Landscape of some kind as well Not sure if the Terrain engine is up to that yet.

SHIVA..you are allowed to see dots umpteen miles away...but look down at 300 ft and all that stands out is the name of the plane. In real life light is reflected differently. You cant compare what a PC provides to what the human eye sees. Im just asking if somehow the colors could be "brightened" on the plane so it stands out a little better. Dark green on a dark green backdrop,of the same tint with little to no variation makes the plane perfectly camo`ed...too perfect.

Nightfighters, if there were any bombers to use them against. The He 219 Uhu would be fantastic, six 30mm, two 20mm and 416mph A 23000'. Sounds cool to me.

Next big thing...besides me actually landing some kills for once:)..   I would say nightfighters.  After that, seaplanes and flying boats.  Adding a rescue platform and mission would be awesome!
