Title: Light Blue Screen Error! HELP!
Post by: Seagoon on August 06, 2002, 04:39:28 PM
Hi All,

ACES HIGH had been working just fine on my desktop until either I upgraded to 1.10 or new drivers for my 3D Prophet II MX (32 Megs). Since that time, whenever I play, I initially get a normal screen and then suddenly during flight or while waiting on the ground, the screen will suddenly go entirely light blue and stay that way. If I ALT-TAB out to the desktop, and then come back, the screen is back to normal, but after a while the problem will always come back.

This is driving me crazy and making the game unplayable.

Hey a new one i've not seen mentioned before...

Is any part of your system overclocked?

is your screensaver enabled? (try turnin it off)

is any parts of your system set to go into standby after x amount of time? (recommend disabling)

just ideas i am tossin out to you Seagoon

First.. did u reinstall direct x8.1 after installing new drivers?  if not do so..

test

go back to your old drivers for the video card making sure to go through the process PROPERLY (remove old drivers 1st) then reinstall directx 8.1 again

test

Title: Suggestions

Hi Skurj,

Thanks for your suggestions.

Yeah, I'm overclocked, but I've always been overclocked at the same rate (700->800), so no change there. I've installed DX 8.1b twice with no help there, I've also reinstalled the new vid drivers (can't find the old ones, but I'm still looking).

No standby systems, and my screensaver is the same one I've always had. I've noticed the "available free mem" on my vid dips low (but is still ample) before it happens. Any other suggestions? This is the only game I have this problem with.

I found and reinstalled the Old Herc Drivers, the problem disappeared and the "available memory" count instantly doubled.

Just a warning to anyone else using the Hercules Prophet II MX - both the generic NVIDIA drivers and the proprietary Hercules driver update seem to be incompatible with AH for some reason. The old drivers that come on the CD seem to be just fine.

Thanks for the assistance Skurj.
