Like me job?

Sure

Like the fact we haven't had any raises, reviews or anything that hints at the company interested in the welfare of, or rewarding us for our hard work in the past 2.5 years pisses me off.

To help get by, I'm working a second job at night (at UPS).

Working 12 hours a day kinda sux.

Now back to submitting my resumes  :D

Well as taste tester at the Glenlivet Scotch Distillery, and the person responsible to "interview" all company calender models prior to approval, I feel fulfilled in my work.

If only I could earn more than this measley 250k.

My grandfather preached, "Whatever job you do, digging ditches, building rockets...do the best job you can while doing it...it matters not what you do, it matters how you do it."

I've like every job I've ever had.  I've made the best out of it.  I'm a very optimistic person when it comes to performing a job. My biggest problem is I take a task, simplify it, save the company money, then I get bored because the task has now become "automated".  Boredom is my worst enemy. I've literally changed careers 5 times in 27 years.  Working for a large company allows you to do that.

Nothing like being in business for yourself. Can be very satisfying and frustrating, often at the same time. :)

I'm self employeed so I don't have a job, I have a career. Of course I love it or I'd do something else. The only part of all this I don't like is the collecting money part. Kewl part is I'm on reduced hours for six weeks every summer.

I actually do, as hard as my company tries to make me hate it sometimes...  For my birthday last week, they fired all of my friends in the office - some of whom I'd worked with for 5 - 7 years - to outsource their jobs to India where they can get 3x the people for 1/3 the money. :(

I used to enjoy my work but now it's hell. Now they pay me more which is about only thing which keeps me there.

In next spring they will shut down our factory and first I was thinking to stay in company and move 100km north to work in a new factory but after couple, not too succesfull, meetings with my boss I sent a email to a guy I know in our rivalving corporation.
Next monday morning that guy called me and told they will have a open job in their corporation in next spring and he also did ask if I would like to start in there right now or would I like to stay where I am until spring.
I'm getting a "golden hand-shake", splitted to my monthly salaries, so I said I'll be there in next spring :)

I like my job when it pays the bills.  When it doesn't, like right now, I hate it.
I was once told, and I agree to some extent, that the true test of job satisfaction would be if you would do for free what you presently get paid to do.  The theory being, you love the job and the monetary rewards are insignificant compared to the satisfaction you get from doing the work.
In that case, I would have to say NO.
Dealing with drunks, psycho's, doctors who think that "M.D." at the end of their name means GOD, family members who think they know more about your work than you do.........
I guess I am experiencing a lot of soul searching lately.  I loved my work last year, working on drilling rigs (yes, I would have done it for free if asked), but going back to the medical field has been trying to say the least.
I don't have the hardest job by any means, but I do think I am in one of the most underappreciated fields in medicine.
Man.......I miss the days when you could speak your mind on the job and not get fragged for it............

I used to like my job. Now I hate it.

All we get is parents slugging it out over their kids (roughly 2-3 such cases per week...great fun to read all the psychological evaluations about how the kids cry themselves to sleep, pees themselves, falls behind in school etc just because the damn parents cant agree on which one gets the kid 20 days a month and which one gets 10 days a month),
or guys beating the crap out of their girlfriends (and getting 1-3 months in prison...welcome to Sweden),
or old diddlying disgusting retarded motherf*ckers who molest their grandchildren or children (3 years in prison...for raping your own granddaughter..wtf is that...they should be taken out back and shot). If you are against the death penatly, you should try to sit and listen to a 12 yr old girl describe what granddaddy used to do to her from age 4 and up.

This job gets to you, it is very easy to get very cynical.

I used to think it was fun, but now its just depressing.

Like hearing a daughter go into a rage when she finds out her dad has a girlfriend on his unit......dig deeper and ya find out she and ole Dad have a spousal relationship and he's been banging her since she was 12......  and 2 of her 3 kids are his, and her hubbie is fine with it........made me wanna puke then, makes me wanna puke thinking about it now.
Or the 19 year old who can't understand why her mom gets upset just because she wants to go out and get drunk instead of taking care of her 5 day old baby.  And totally refuses to take care of the child, i.e. nursing it, changing it's dirty diapers, etc.  when she brings it in to the hospital with pneumonia..
At least last summer I could tell a guy what I thought and we could work it out verbally or otherwise, and there was not a meeting of the minds telling me how politically incorrect it is to tell someone they are wrong or mistaken.

Looks at  brochure for land up in the Alaskan wilderness..........

The salary stinks.  No personal savings after 25 years.

I'm unemployed after 3+ years at a company that just did a reorg (french for firing). 400 of us got the axe.

So I currently hate my job.

OTOH, I do enjoy my field (network/system admin).

Anyone here do their own computer consulting work? I'd like to shoot the breeze with you esp. if you're on the east coast.

My job? Sure, I love it...I love it when the old bastards actually eat their food without complaining that its 4.3 degrees too hot (I'm a server/host at a restaurant), when they don't seat themselves at any ole table, when they don't have to try 60 different tables just to want the first one I gave them, and when I don't generally feel like I'm working in a Stalinist-era munitions factory in Siberia, where the only way out is death. The pay? Yea, I love it... I mean, I just love it when a customer thanks my hour of sweat and labor serving them and leaves me $2 for their $50 dollar check...(anyone who doesn't adequetly tip servers is a bastard and needs to be shot in the stomach). The only "good" part of work is that I get to hear the manager (also an AH pilot) talk about how he blew my bellybutton out of the sky in the dueling arena (10 times) the other month...

Well...my coworkers are nice...at least...

Did I mention I love my job?

My dream job is dipping minnows at a marina for $5 bucks an hour....don't want to take their money, just take my little net and scoop up a dozen minnows for em.

My second dream job is to be a greeter at Walmart.

Perhaps I have too much responsibility, ya think?

Work is a four letter word. Like toejam, diddly and golf; it brings to mind visions of hopeful endeavors tainted by aggravation that usually always exceed the fleeting rewards.

Unless yer ripsnort... or yah got a hooopity kewl job changing valve stems at the local dildo store; in which case you'd no doubt be a prude, and gay. Oh, hell; theres rip again.

I love mine.

Going to trial, working to help victims, trying to help the juveniles and occasionally seeing one of them turn themselves around.

The main downside is the fact that lately I've gotten a slew of child-molest cases.  I'm working 5 of them right now.

Like my career, hate the punk-ass media company that employs me currently. Editorial (I'm a writer/editor) isn't important to the great leader, all you need are blank pages and the right circulation model to sell ads apparently. Maybe his insightful business sense is why he managed to whittle his media empire down from 60 magazines to some 20 in the course of a few years (without any ROI in the process). I've seen him kill of literally hundreds of years of magazine history (during the bubble period no less) with the greatest of ease. Nice pay cut across the board recently too, but he can still take a four month vacation to France as he shares in our hardship.

Still, I telecommute, and if I don't leave for a competitor soon I will likely do some consulting in PR to help round out the salary situation. Or just give up journalism and go back to PR full time and make some frickin' $$$.

I thought I was the only one with the weird fascination of catching fish with a hand net . Helps if you have a helper or two to heard them around .
I've never liked my job, way too confrontational . If it weren't for taking and giving bellybutton chewings and trying to reason with hostile invalids it probably wouldn't be so bad . But if I liked it wouldn't be work .

Hmm

I really like my new job

Overnights are nice because I can work 3 days a week and still have 30 hours, and with the best pay i've ever had i'm living pretty well at this point

However what bums me out is the knowledge that I have to move on with school and get off this rock because if i dont soon i'll be stuck here forever. I hate seeing people from my hs graduating class caught with stupid jobs and no lives here.

So, yeah, i like it, but soon its gonna be time to leave it and i know i'll regret doing so

Use to love it...now I'm not so sure. I work w/guys who are "over" me ie have a higher rating/pay yet come to me about every damn piece of equipment we have it seems like. Yet for some reason I havent been promoted and I dont see a promo coming this year ethier.

I've decided that if no promo this review I'm going back to school and branch into the Cisco area of telecom. Right now I deal w/PBX's (NEAX2400 mostly ICS's), Titian 5500 DACS, I'm the guy for our Ericsson 800MHZ IMC as well. Hell, I also do cat v wiring and normal phone work as well. T1's,DS-3's, OC-3's various fiber equipment...bla.blablablabla.

I've already expressed my displeasure to my boss and his boss... they SAY they think I'm a great asset to the company and dept, lol. I told them this "asset" wont be around forever w/out more money.

 Time will tell....

Hey I work in the power industry and can't say enough about the great people I work with.  They are so cool.  Especially this one chap name Cogen (AH handle) he makes my job so easy.:p

I live in God's country, money is good, get 7 days off in a row every month.  I actually end up working about 17 days out of every month.

The management is great.  I make suggestions and they let me run with them.  My boss The Oarsman just gave me a 6 digit bonus $$$$$$.

There are no customer complaints, no court cases, just electrons metering down the line to your home so you can play AH.

Oh! that's where the bonus came from.:D

Actually guys & gals we are still reaping the harvest of $500/MW that California signed for last year.  Wahooooooo!

I love Gray Davis; the current and hopefully the next Great Governor of California.  Keep rocking those prices Gray we love you man.

I don't know whether I love or hate mine at times. Me, my dad, and brother are partners in an autobody repair business. We've got 10 employees and stay real busy.
Dad just turned 60 and is a control freak from down there with Mr. lucipher. He just recently stopped chewing tobacco (which he picked up after quitting smoking 15 yrs ago). His physiological makeup just isn't the same without 'baccy in his blood. He can be a psychotic nutcase when he wants to be. Of course he's not one in front of anyone other than my bro and I. I guess he thinks it's ok to be a nut in front of family. I try to be a good son and put up with a lot of it and bite my tongue but recently decided I was done with that. When he gets to being a blow hard know-it-all, I just tell him that that's what he's being. He then starts telling me how he doesn't need to hear all that. That's when I just walk off and leave him jabbering and red faced. Speaking your mind after not doing it for years really feels good. Especially when you know you're right.

My job pays good, but I've got a family of 5 so the money gets burned fast. We've got a company 401k going now so I should have a good retirement. Me and the wife limp along between draws from the company ;). Dad just bought a big motor home so maybe he'll go on some vacations and relax and get out of our hair.

All in all, I can't really complain. It could be much worse for me.

Hblair, My dad was Chairman of a pretty good sized Co. based in Missouri and Toronto.

I wouldn't work for him for anything! Everyone loves the guy but I know my life would be a living hell if I was his employee. We get along great, but I'm sure things would be different if I accepted his nepotism.

I'm with Ripsnort on moving from job to job...

I've been with the same organization for the past 12 years, but I've changed jobs four times. Funny thing is... as soon as I'm there long enough to get comfortable, I get bored with it. The downside is that the new jobs are becoming more and more uncomfortable at the start. I keep wondering when I'm going to become proof of the "peter principle."

Kieran hit the nail on the head WRT school. Education never stops.

Big bennie at work... the occasional low pass from F/A-18 Hornets. Hell.. back in the day, the air used to be so thick with 'em, we could smell the jet fuel.
