I used to visit Davis-Mathan (? name) in Tuscon.  A-10's flew constantly there about 20 years ago.

I didn't know the He 162 could carry bombs?  As far as I know it used 2 MG151/20 cannon only.  (This aircraft did see service with JG1, but only for 4 days.  1 Gruppe was formed on May 4 1945 at Leck, but the British captured that airfield on May 8th.  A total of 116 were built during the war.)

I'm curious as to how the pilot could bail out safely????

Maybe when he opened the canopy, the glass reduced the suction of the jet engine?
