I used to visit Davis-Mathan (? name) in Tuscon. A-10's flew constantly there about 20 years ago.

I didn't know the He 162 could carry bombs? As far as I know it used 2 MG151/20 cannon only. (This aircraft did see service with JG1, but only for 4 days. 1 Gruppe was formed on May 4 1945 at Leck, but the British captured that airfield on May 8th. A total of 116 were built during the war.)
I'm curious as to how the pilot could bail out safely????

Honestly, I don't know how the pilot escaped.

Maybe when he opened the canopy, the glass reduced the suction of the jet engine?
