I've seen this mentioned a long time ago by Citabria I think it was.
the F6F's canopy in AH have a vertical bar connecting the front wind-shield arch to the top arch. From the pictures it appears that this bar is very short - almost none existant and the from arch is much higher till it connects to the top arch, improving forward view considerably. this is the same f6f pic that was attached before:

also, I've seen pics of the razorback P-47 that didn't have that annoying vertical bar right infront of the pilot's face (what were the designers thinking???).
here are examples, but on most pictures it's hard to see so I really dont know, and the color pic is of a restored jug so it might be a little different, and is missing it.

re the jug, the bar is there in both pics, but it is really thin. the reason the canopy was angled like that as I understand is that it is more aerodynamic than a flat piece of armored glass, which they ended up using later on in the bubbletop anyways.

thx jack.
this is a good pic, the center bar is pretty thin, and those other pics must be just at the right angle so it doen't show.

Ask Hub Zemke what happened to him when he removed the anyoing armored glass :D

Canopy bars are so much easier to look around and past in flight than in any ACM game.....
...... aw nevermind. :)
