We are getting up and running again and the next Friday TOD begins on August 23rd. The SEA should be good to go and we hope all of the problems with lag are taken care of.
So I need squad CO's to pick a side for the TOD and as always please update your roster so that when I place squads the numbers will work out evenly.
The TOD is called Operation Jubilee. Here is the write up for it.
==============================================
At dawn on 19th August 1942, six thousand and one hundred Allied soldiers, of whom roughly five thousand were Canadians, landed at the French port of Dieppe in their first major test of the defence of the German-held coastline of Europe since Dunkirk.
A combination of over-rigid planning, inadequate communication; lack of supporting firepower; and in the final hour before the raid, absolute bad luck inflicted on the Allies made the Dieppe raid one of their worst defeats in World War Two.
The codename given to the operation was ‘Jubilee’ the purpose was to destroy local defenses, capture prisoners, remove German invasion barges and hold for a limited time the town of Dieppe. It was also seen as a way of taking pressure off the Russians, a test for future invasions.
In total the RAF committed approximately 70 squadrons to Operation Jubilee equipped with Spitfires, Hurricane Mk IIcs, Boston IIIs, Blenheim IVs, Mustang Mk Is for tactical reconnaissance, Hawker Typhoons, B17Es, and assorted air-sea-rescue units.
Opposing the RAF on 19 August 1941 were JG2 and and JG26 with FW 190 A’s, Me 109s. KG2, KG45 and KG77 equipped with Do 217s, Ju 88s, and He 111s.
The RAF flew 2,955 operational sorties on 19 August 1941, losing 97 planes and 62 men. The Germans admitted to 48 aircraft lost in action, about half of what the RAF pilots claimed. The attacking force lost approximately 1,000 men killed, 600 wounded, and 1,900 captured.
Two years after the raid on Dieppe, the Canadians landed at dawn on 6th June 1944, participated in the Battle of Normandy and on 1st September 1944, the 2nd Canadian Division liberated Dieppe.

RAF and Spitfires if available for 880 Squadron. Thanks.
Pilots 4-6

We'd prefer Allied or Axis.

I am getting the votes in from my guys as I type. Right now its tied will wait for more votes before I get back to you tomorrow with our preference.
As for our numbers I believe Nightmares are back up to the 21 - 25 range (any remember the link to the roster page so I can change it there?). Need to double check might have more and need to be in the 26 - 30 range. Will tell you tomorrow.
-
Nifty requests to fly with whoever gets Spitfire Mk Vb's. ;)
-
Lemme know GD...I can bump it up for ya.
-
I found the squad dossier page .. okay Nightmares are set for 21-25 pilots for this TOD (meaning I can field a max of 27). I think that should do for now. :)

Heh, reminds me of my JG2 days, when we had 68 pilots, in one Special event, 80% of the LW was represented by our squad! ;)
That was tough to manage, numbers that high...
-
Allies if possible.
-
Ooohhhh .. Ripsnort has given me a goal. I will not rest until the Nightmares have so many pilots in TOD that we are 81% of one side. ;)
-
Where can I read up on ToD?
New player in a new squad. Should I just go through this BB when I have time?
Does a squad have to be on the "dossier" to participate?
Are there walkons etc...................?

Read about it here :)

Well, one guy wants to fly a spit V, but he's flexible, so we'll go where needed.. We should be down for 11 -15 for Friday night, with 8 committed so far.

When the Kraits were at their most active in AW, we had to create a second squad (max 32) to fit them all in. Some Warnights (walkon events similar to SnapShot/Check6 events) there would be 20+ of us participating, and often it was Kraits v everyone else! Fun times.... :D

332nd Flying Mongrels Requests Allied.
Checked our numbers, 16-20 and that will remain the same.

Yeah, we actually had 3 squadrons in AH, JG2/1, JG2/2, and JG2/3. Our peak was 67 pilots (or was it 76? I don't remember). You can pretty much find one of our pilots in any of the veteran squadrons...for 1.5 years, we were the biggest... I like managing smaller groups nowadays.
Heres a pic of a slow squadron night for us back then...

skernsk,
Okay my squad is evenly split 3 ways .. 1/3rd RAF, 1/3rd LW, and 1/3rd no preference. So put us where you need us. Although I have had one volunteer to man an LVT and recreate the Dieppe raid. ;)
And once again our committment numbers are 21-25.
-
Don't care what I fly, as long as it's the Pony-B :D
-
The Flying Zoo wants to go Allied (for a change).
-
I haven't asked everyone, but most prefer Allied. So, put us down for Allied if possible for the Arctic Storm.
-
By the way, we will have the same number of slots (4-6).
-
I have not seen any post from Rogue Squadron (but I might have gotten sidetracked by Ripsnort's* shamelss hijacking of the thread). All other votes are in.
Sides and C.O's will be posted over the weekend and Frame 1 orders will go out Sunday.
* just picking on Rip so that airfare to next years con is taken care of:)
