Post by: Mr.ED on June 05, 2000, 09:21:00 AM
If you live within 100 miles of Washington state's capitol, Olympia:

The "Gathering of the Warbird" event happens on June 17-18. Two days of wall to wall aircraft.

40-50 real vintage WWII aircraft!

It put on by Olympic Flight Museum (ofm@olywa.net) for info, or drop me a line, I'll e-mail you the flyer.

Heck you may even see me at my PC flyin' "Aces High", you never know!

Well, I dunno, I live down here in Oregon across from Longview, WA. and if I can get past my fear of the big city, load up the pack horse with fresh beaver pelts for trade, sharpen my axe, and find a clean flannel shirt, why I just might make it.

I developed this fear of you city fellers after livin in Los Angeles for 5 years, and Seattle for 5 years before that.

Okay, here's the plan for the airshow meet:
Saturday, June 17th, high noon (12:00pm) at the beer garden.

I'll be the guy with a shaved head, though I will be wearing a brown B17 hat, sleeveless shirt, with 3 small tattoos on my arms.  Hows that for a description? Hehe.

Looking forward to meeting you guys!

I emailed all of you that  had a email address in your posts.

Bingo!  Family life does  that  to you!  Though I wasn't a true  'biker' in the sense of the word, I did have a very 'violent' past...lets just say that you don't want to see me with a couple too many shots of tequila in me...hehe. (However, you won't find me on America's Most Wanted!)

I had a gun pulled on me 3 times, had  a .32 fired at  me at point blank range (good thing the end user was drunk, I had  powder burns on the side of my face, it was >< close) and have used up 8 of my 9 lives. Thanks God the testosterone has calmed down!  Ah, well, the joys of bartending  when I was going to college!)

BBGUNN,
Which B17? Confederate?

Guys, I'm going to be staying at the Millersylvania State Camp ground, so Sat. evening you're all invited  to the campsite for a BBQ, bring your own meat/beer.  I'll have  a nice campfire going and we can fill each other with virtual airbattle roadkill.

Cya's there!

Ah, jeez.  Sorry, people, but I won't be able to make it.  Just realized I can't do it.  Being a Dad to a four month old has its duties.  And having a 3rd shift job really compounds the whole thing(get off work at 8am on Saturday).

Well, have a beer for me, and if they have any VVS aircraft, don't tell me.  Please don't tell me  (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/frown.gif)

MrEd said:" Meet outside the gift shop (you walk thru it to get to the hanger) about noonish."

And I mentioned above to meet at the Beer Garden, so...

Let's decide on one central location to meet.

Bongo, will be good to see you again!

Updated Post:

There is a beer garden, After you go through the gift shop and hanger to the tarmac, there will be a canopy (tent) and beer!

For those of you flying in, the tower will ask you when you approch. if you are warbird or GA. Tellem GA, unless you are in a warbird, and they will direct you to the other side of the airport, ask them to buzz the museum and we will drive around and pick you up.

Holy guacamole! I am putting together a Fly In at the McChord Air show as well.  AKDejaVu has also agreed to attend.  Most of the guys that have responded to me are WW1 simmers (Red Baron, Flying Circus) but we have some AH flyers as well.  I have a discussion set up for this specific event and other possibles at http://fly.to/nwflyin (http://fly.to/nwflyin)  please go there and make yourselves known.
