Well I was practicing my landings today and felt a bulge on my pocket. It was my Canon Digital Elph wich was still in my pants from the night above.
It was a nice afternoon, so I took some pics for your enjoyment.
This is the touristic area of El Condado. If youve ever been to Puerto Rico, chances are you have been there:

A nice view of the Caribe Hilton:

A close-up of El Morro castle, a spaniard built fortification to protect the capital from all those pesky pirates, yarrr!!

Animal himself :) (flying sideways)

Full flap landing

The plane I was flying was a Cessna 152 (N757FV), as comfortable as a VW Beetle, and any wind gust will push you around like a cheap potato.
If anyone comes around my island, a plane ride and a pitcher of beer are in order.

Is that castle supposed to be the one that is haunted? I saw something on TV once about a haunted castle in the Carribean, and that looks like the one they were talking about.
-
Is that Riki Martin?

Unas fotos preciosas Animal, y ya sabes que si vienes por aquí tienes un vuelo y un tour gastronómico asegurados ;)

I'm pretty sure I've actually been to that fortress in my early teens on a family vacation. The only other thing I remember is taking a bus tour that took us to some college and the students yelling sentiments similar to "Americans, go home!"
Based on those pictures, you live in a very beautiful place.

Hey bud,
Great pics. I'll sure let you know when I'm in your neighbourhood.

Awesome pictures !!

Cool pictures man.

Way cool... thanx Animal.

Animal, I feel you have invaded my airspace with the close proximity of the camera to your face. You must have very short arms or the camera was on zoom.
And BTW, cool aid is for kids.
:D

Outstanding pictures Animal:) Have fun with your flying. It that the castle that was in the movie Heartbreak Ridge?

The left-wing liberals probably yelled something like "gringo, go home".
Grunherz would love em.

For more than a year, though not often. I got my private three months ago and fly about four hours each month to keep myself warm.

Shoot me an email please.

Hmmm isn't that a "Ripsnort haircut"?

etc...
Un saludo,
Daniel

Hold everything!
Why are you wearing lipstick?

Very cool pics Animal...
I would love to get to PR to have a few beers, but I have already been "bitten" by the "come on up in my plane for a ride" deal.
You see, it is only natural for the pilot to want to show off to his passengers. I spent an hour with a guy I met, who had his own plane, buzzing a beach in the Turks and Caicos while his girlfriend and father took pictures (they were on the beach). On one of the shots we have about a 2 foot clearance off the surf. My girlfriend at the time screamed for the entire ride...which only made the guy laugh and get more dangerous.
So...I'll take you up on the beer, but I'll pass on the plane ride.
I also had a similar experience on a friend's motorcycle. My life flashed in front of my eyes on numerous occassions on a ten minute ride. We almost got into a fight afterwards. He thought it was funny, but I failed to see the humour in running red lights at high speed and playing "hogs of the road" on a bike!
-
Hehe, that motorcycle ride reminded me of last year. Neighbor and went to Cabela's in Dundee, MI. He was in his F-150, 75mph-ish. Riding the car in front of him, i'm not exaggerating when I say not even two feet of distance. I simply said: "Either you back off now, or I'm kicking your ass!" Should I have capped that quote, I was yelling that?

First three pix were great but I now have eye damage from the fourth one ... best put a warning/disclaimer up quick :)

Weazel, tried to email you but couldnt find your addy on the profile.
Anyways thanks for the compliments, specially on my beautiful lips. I knew the AH bbs was rampant with homosexuals.
Cyrano, comunications with tower are still all english. I remember a few days ago a Venezuelan millionaire brought his family along in a huge airplane, he didnt know any English and was kind of lost. They had to find a controller who could speak spanish. Most controllers here are from the states, they come looking for jobs here because of the beauitful weather.
Mietla sure. I may have a trip to Dominican Republic squeduled for that month, but if they dates dont converge, you should spend a few days here, and bring that big bag of muscles and fat along with ya ;)
-
You look gay. get a nose ring.
yer not my son.
yer my daughter.
studmuffingot.
btw.. nice shots, kewl plane.. were the pirates that raped and pillaged PR all studmuffingots too?
;)
-
Mietla,
Are you sure the gun would also fire if pointed at the tail? ;)
There should be mechanics preventing gun from firing when pointing certain places :)
-
Meitla and Animal, cool set of pictures.
:D
Now next time, I want a close shot at the Hilton swiming pool from above :p

Actually. no, I'm not sure. You can point the gun anywhere you want, but still I can imagine some gizmo that interrupts fire at certain angles.
Any experten here?

enough experience with us gov to know if it has one it dosent work.

Forget the lipstick, what about the lazy eye?

Hehe...at first I thought the Village People were adding a pile-it to their little group. :D

Hey dude, I can see your dad's 'vette!
Just joking with ya! ;)

Cyrano, comunications with tower are still all english
Air traffic communications are in English worldwide, it is accepted (and I imagine required by ICAO reg) that comms are in English. The Venezualan pilot should have known that, and his home country should have required a working knowledge of English as a prerequisite to license issuance.

Dago, while all air traffic controllers are required to speak english, both the official language of a country and english are acceptable for normal use.
In Spain you won't hear many general aviation flights spoken in english, just those with non spanish speaking pilots.
As a matter of fact you won't find many GA pilots that can successfully communicate with traffic control in english. I do have the international radiocom rating, but in my club, with more than 500 people flying regularly, not more than 80 have this rating.
Same thing goes for France (my experience). You can communicate in english (try to understand the english from some controllers tho ;) ) or French.
Since PR official language is spanish (AFAIK) I thought ATC comms were in english and spanish.
