Looks like MB is getting serious with some 500hp M5 competitors.

That's an AMG, I'll put some cash on the fact that Dinan would tear it new as........! :D

Hell, I've heard just putting a Dinan badge on your auto will give it 10-20 hp increase :D

I did go with the chip (My cost, $200) since I didn't like to be throttle-limited by my own Gov't! No badge though ;)

Take this news and the fact that the next BMW 5 series will feature most of the "unique" styling elements of the new 7 series,  and I think we can say BMW is in deep toejam. Too bad, I always used to like BMW more than MB. Farewell BMW!  :(

Well, Grun, I might agree with Bangle as the chief designer at BMW, have you seen the Butt-ugly 7-series lately

Note that MB is styling close to what the current 3-series has looked like for the last 3 years ;)

The standard has been: BMW sets it, MB, Audi, follow.  In the future, that could change...the market will tell.

Yep I have been following the new 7 series disaster for the past year.  I think that Chris Bangle is a madman and should be fired.

Ripsnort have you seen the Chris Bangle goes into a bar joke?

Yeah, seen it hehehe, I hang out at Roadfly quite often.  You'll usually find me slumming in the E46  "Lounge".

My favorite beamer is still the M8. Its fast, sexy, comfortable, got everything I want.  The M8 is still the best.

Id get a stick if I had one. No automatic stuff for me.

:D

Don't forget this one, making BIG waves here in the land of "brother" Benz and Bimmer.

The chrome trim around the glass looks tacky and ruins the flow of the beltline because it stops at the C pillar.  Otherwise its a really nice uber Passat..... :D

Agreed! However, I'm starting to sway toward the SMG II, not a true automatic or manual , but best of both worlds, paddle shifting as the pro autos from the steering wheel, I believe there are 3 different shift options you can choose from with SMG-equipped M3.

I like audis best. The problem with BMW is that it marks you as a BMW guy where audis are just awesome and have no stigma attached.

I really could care less about "image", maybe in my 20's I did, not at my age now though! ;)(Although I *have* been tempted to pull my gun rack out of my pickup truck and mount it in the back window of my BMW ;) )

Audi has a good product today I've been told, however, I had nothing but problems with my previous Audi.  By 65,000 it was undriveable and I babied that car! I did test try an A4 and A6 last summer prior to purchase, but they didn't give me that "kick- in- the- ass" around corners like BMW did, combined with the fact that "I'd been burned once", I chose not to go with Audi.

Mox has a real nice Audi TT we saw (but did not drive) at the Con, maybe I'll have to bring my 330 next year and he and I can swap cars and go find  some twisties! :D
