I think you can still beat your feet on the Mississippi mud.
-
I see an all expense paid Rio vacation fer my ex and my kid in the near future.
-
I don't know, ordinarily I'm opposed to beating kids, but look at some of the people from Florida- like Eagler, for instance- and it's obvious they weren't beaten enough as children. Maybe the other 49 States should stay out of this one.
-
While I dont need to beat my kids, there have been times I wanted to beat someone elses. :)
-
it's also a pastime here to hang libs and dumbacrats...
what else is there to do on a hot humid afternoon while waiting for the daily rainstorm :)
hehe EW, I was "disciplined" as a child, and the amazing thing is I usually deserved it - imagine that.
The ironic thing is I feel now that my sons are 17 & 23, I was probably too easy on them and did not spank them enough for their own good. But neither is in jail, runaway or drug addicts so sumpin worked out :)
and I have a great grandbaby to boot
:D

ROFL!
beat my kids... please!
-
"Beat on the brat..with a baseball bat!!..Oh yeah!"
-
I have a wooden spoon. I've used it twice. Once for the first kid, once for the second. I haven't had to use it since, and I have people call me all the time (well, 3 times this summer) and say "I just can't believe how polite your kids are!"
Now, the spoon was used in severe cases to discipline bad behavior, but more importantly, ethics was taught with positive reinforcement. The kids *know* where the spoon is, and what it is for, consider it a political weapon of war as Nuclear weapons are ;). They're also consistently *rewarded* for good behavior with love and positive reinforcement, the latter not only from us, but others that meet our kids.

"Never met a kid yet that didn't understand a slap in the face or a slug from a .45" --W.C. Fields
-
That kid is WAY too cute to come from an inbred conservative Gator eatin household.......... Eagler did you adopt a Democrat?
-
What do conservative gators taste like, anyway?
-
All kidding aside, that is a face I'd never want to see on a milk carton. Take good care of her!

He was brought in to straighten up our Dept. of Children and Families, after 1 caseworker was brought up on charges after the death of child (firing justified - she lied on her reports), her supervisor was fired (unjustified - he was still working through the stack of case files), several other DCF caseworkers quit due to poor working conditions, and the head of the DCF resigned in the aftermath. Jeb Bush has dug himself into quite a hole!
One way to clear out the excessive case load is to adopt a looser definition of abuse, and it looks like this guy has adopted that tactic. Its certainly cheaper than hiring more people and paying better wages.
-
the DCF shortcomings are the best the Dumbacrats can do against Jeb in the coming election - politics - pure and simple. Those making noise about the DCF could care less about the kids than who sits in Tallahassee for the next gov term.
thanks for the compliments, she's a great grand daughter - so far :)

incorrect assessment Sandman.
Deborah Schroth, an attorney with Florida Legal Services, a statewide public interest law firm in Jacksonville, said state law specifically forbids corporal punishment that results in bruises and welts.
Last time I checked, I disagreed with the speed limit being 70, but it was still against the law to go over 70.
It's not ok to leave bruises and welts unless the law gets changed. I don't think the head of a state department gets to change laws (especially with an essay he co-wrote over 10 years ago), I'm pretty sure the Legislature writes them and the Governor signs them or vetoes them.

We could just as easily titled this thread "Slavery Legalized In Florida." All you do is adopt a couple of hundred African American children, put them in the cotton fields and count your money. Hell, it wouldn't surprise me a bit if GWB helped his brother Jeb out by providing free government bullwhips to white adoptive plantation owning "parents." It's not the children of Florida who deserve to be beaten- it's the parents.

As long as you aren't gay!
No gay parents allowed!

Children should be beaten daily even if you haven't caught them doing anything.
More than likely, they did something and got away with it.
