Title: Ring Tones for Cell Phone?
Post by: aknimitz on August 20, 2002, 07:07:36 AM: Ok - I have an Ericcson T60D cell phone ... Cingular is my cellular provider. Here is my problem. All the damn ring tones at the cingular site are for nokia phones (for the most part). I've heard there are ways/sites to 3rd party ring tones, but anyone know of any? I had a tough go searching for 'em. And does anyone know how to dload them? I think I can create custom ones - but I have no idea how to do that either.

I just upgraded to the Nokia 6360 from that hunk-a-junk and all of the problems I thought I had with AT&T wireless service went away. Plus, it looks awfully fallic, and while I'm sure that has some appeal to you, it was disturbing to put the thing up to my ear. :p

Same here, 'cept mine is an i85. Nextel 2 way is great.

It is one phallic lookin' phone isnt it? If I could switch back to Nokias without much expense, I would. But I bought these two phones for $75 total ... I guess I could sell them and then buy new ones?

Ok - another question since my thread has been HIJACKED! With cell phones ... lets say I buy a Nokia 6360 off ebay. Does it have to be compatible with Cingular or do I just read them the number son the phone and voila?

Post by: hblair on August 20, 2002, 01:19:27 PM: I cut my grass with a yazoo riding mower. It does a good job when you keep the blade sharp. Wife can't cut grass fer squat though. She can't keep a pattern. I have a stihl weed trimmer. Also, I water my flowerbed with a "weeper" hose.

Post by: Ossie on August 20, 2002, 05:35:34 PM: aknimitz, if you buy a used phone, you have to make sure it is GSM compatible. Cingular uses the GSM network. AT&T uses TDMA and Verizon use CDMA. I'm not sure what Nextel or Sprint use, but a phone built for one network will not work on another.

BTW...What Ossie said - just make sure the phone will do GSM if that's what Cingular's network is.

Not that I'm bitter, :p Just sick (and tired) of hearing it all. Besides a stupid personal ringtone aint gonna do you any good, it'll still ring 3-4 times on the loadest setting before you realize it's yer stupid phone thats going off.

And yes I have one, and yes it's on vibrate:p

It basically comes down to asking the person you buy it from. If they aren't sure, ask what service they used. If they say Cingular, it'll work. With Nokia, they make their phones in a certain series (8200, 6300). The 6360 is a TDMA phone for AT&T, and the 6340 is basically the same exact phone only it's made for GSM. You can go to nokia.com, and they list all of their phones with all the specs including which network it's built for. When in doubt, you can always call up either Cingular or a dealership and ask if such and such phone will work.
