OF ALL THE WAYS TO CONNECT TO THE NET WE SHOULD ALL NO YOU DONT COUNT ON THE PHONE COMPANIES.......
JUST MY THOUGHTS ANYONE ELSE?
BOX
-
Ultimately the owner of the line to the net is a phone company. In some cases it may seem otherwise but those companies are either leasing the line or have purchased rights to use bandwidth on a given line from a phone company.
-
lol, exactly. all internect connectivity is through the phone lines.
T-1's - phone
T-3's phone
dsl phone
isdn phone
etc

its like that over here, all phone lines are owned by BT
-
I thought it was Sofaking hacking into the network again and running 65k packets..
-
Box, let me explain.
The phone companies are responsible for the physical transport (i.e. the wire itself), no matter what backbone ISP is used.
HTC does not use the phone companies for thier backbone connectivity.
Oh,..hi again. :D

The phone company even installed my new 100Mbps fiber optic line. Talk about reduced latency - holy ping Batman! First 7 hops average 3-4ms. Please excuse my gloating...
But things go sour in Texas
How about I host?
-
what's your total round trip ?
-
Here's a quick flash. Looks like a bad day today...
This was about 10PM Friday (CDT) - 12 noon Saturday, my time.

That doesnt look all that bad to me. 200ms rtt is perfectly fine so long as there is no packet loss.
Trip

Not too bad considering the the long hop across the Pacific Ocean...
