Title: Multiple Stick Mappings
Post by: mkuebeler on August 22, 2002, 05:23:39 PM
So, how do YOU make use of this feature?  I just started playing around with it, but so far all I can think of using a second map for is to be able to easily switch between button 1 firing both primary and secondary weapons, and button 1 firing only the primary weapon.

Sometimes I use the second stick set to change views and map my landing functions. For example on my standard hat I use views for up front, left front, left, left rear, etc. On the second stick set I map them so that I look up at 45 degrees all the way around, except the front one which looks straight up (since the first set has up front). And then I map landing gear, brakes, and some other random functions in there. My primary setup has the guns, flaps, etc. Good luck figuring out what works best!

Separate joy stick sets are great!  Just remember to hot key them so you can switch instantly.  I've mapped /*-+ keys for the 4 sets.  One for fighter/jabo, one for Lanc guns (you need quick response times,) the bombsight, and the last for B-17 guns.  Used one set for GVs for a while but decided I was wasting the quick response times just to shift gears

By using separate sets for bomber guns do you mean mapping the "jump to position" commands onto joystick buttons?  I hadn't thought of that, I usually just fumble over the number keys whilst getting shot to pieces. :)

I do like where you mapped the change set commands!  Thanks!

Yup,Map the gun positions and while you're at it, map outside view and pilots position when you can.

Now all you have to do is figure out how to get back to the bombsight but I don't want to do all the work for you :D
