Title: Ballistics question
Post by: Yeager on July 24, 1999, 09:37:00 AM
we broke the granularity of the gunnery model down to its finest component, the individual projectile.
========
Okay, what this means to me is that each projectile will be independantly modeled and accounted for.

Is this correct?  If so:
Will the aircraft carry the *actual* historical loadouts?

Regards,
Yeager

What do you mean?  Will they have the correct number of rounds loaded?  The answer to that is yes.

Woops missed the first part of your question.  Yes, each bullet is individually modeled.

Maybe yeager was referring to ammo types, are those preset or do we get to select our own mix for the belts.

Hopefully the new system will be flexible enough to include different guns for 109 and 190 with out it being a 'new' plane like in WBs.

The weapons system is very flexible.  You load stuff on your plane in just about any combination you want.  Loading your weapons is kind of like ordering off of a chinese menu.  You get to pick one item from each group and there are three groups total.  For example, on the 109G-10 for the internal ordnance group you can choose between a 20mm and 30mm.  Then there is a group for the belly rack that lets you opt for a 250kg bomb or a 300 liter drop tank.  For the wing racks, you can opt for 21cm rockets or the 20mm gondolas. It gives you a lot of options and possible combinations.

Wow. That makes a good number of Rüstsätze (field conversions) for the G-10 alone. And some interesting pre-flight thoughts about the appropiate loadout  (http://beta.hitechcreations.com/ubb/wink.gif)

Modelling every projectile would be AWESOME!!

I am just concerned with CPU overhead, and the host tracking/recording all of the hits when you have 100-200 people online.

You guys are the 'Gurus' I am sure you have it figured out :-)

Drop Tanks!

Neat!  They have been overlooked way too long.

Cool, cause you know how long I have been asking about the weapons stuff to be set that way in WB.

Hopefully one can save his settings though, I don't fancy to pick out the guns every sortie.

How about deleting weapons to save weight? Once we get the Fw 190 it would be very nice option to get rid of cowl MGs and the ammo, especially if you load MK 108s.

Also better trigger system than in WB would be welcome. You know so that we can set the weapons our selves to each trigger: shooting 20mm and 30mm at the same time with a Fw 190 would be rather excessive against a fighter.

Um...can we load different types of ammo for different missions, or is it preset for each weapon?

Oh yeah.  Do we get mirrors?   (http://beta.hitechcreations.com/ubb/wink.gif)

unfortunately, everything i've ever read on the G-10 says that the R6 and WGr21 conversion kits were very rare on that varient. Those were much more common on the G-6.

another question, is the G-10 of AH a G-10/AS or a G-10 with the DB 605DM?

I've also done some reading and learned the MG 151 gondola cannon were designated R5 on the G-10, not R6 (R6 being an autopilot). The 21cm rockets gave a designation of G-10/R7.

in the book Messerschmitt Bf 109 F, G, & K Series by Jochen Prien and Peter Rodeike, there's a picture of a abandoned G-10 with underwing cannon, which reads below
Quote
...the gondola cannon beneath the wing, rarely seen on a G-10

Ok, so I don't mean to piss on a parade but I thought it was important to note that underwing cannon on the G-10 were not common. If they still belong in AH is an issue up to pyro and ht.  (http://beta.hitechcreations.com/ubb/wink.gif)

And then how much bandwidth you expect to
be enough to play AH with every bullet modelled and other wonderful things ? I hope it will stay under 14400 and use tcp ?

SVK:  14.4 will be sufficient.

Vicious: LOL, I guess we'll have to revise our armament loadouts on the 109. (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/smile.gif)

--ik--

I think that the gun pods could be added in the later years of the RPS. No different than picking planes in the RPS. Think this would keep all happy. Same with ammo load outs F4F cannons available at the end of the tour..

What ya think..this sould work out for a number of plane load outs  (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/smile.gif)

IK: if the pods will affect the plane handling properly, we will propably not see them too much. I guess...

I'll post a new thread on this later... but it seems to me that (although having the setup saved for each plane each time is easy) having to configure your plane each time you die would be a possible incentive to living..

if you could make it so that death puts loadouts to default.. you'd perhaps have found an incentive to fly smart... no more of these jump up in your zeke 2 seconds after dying to a field capture vulch.

-ik-, the G10 was not even a development series, they were just upgrades of older G6's to bring them up to par with the K4. The g10 designation is a bit of a weird a/c to model since the upgrades began within a few weeks of the K4 near the end off 44.

As far as the engine is concerened, depending on which model pyro does, you might as well cal it a G14 or in the case of the "d" engine call it a K4. Unless, pyro is planning on blending the attributes of the two a/c rolled into one and calling it the G10, which IMO, isn't such a bad idea.

Quick question Pyro.
Will the -47 be modled eventually?
