Hi I tried using the 3d glasses but I found it is impossible to aim due to teh fact that the gunsight's z location is in the plane of teh glass and not focused at infinity like I think they were in real life. Right now when your eyes focus on the con your gunsight goes double and you cant aim :)
Also the other thing is that something funny is going on when the cons are far away, they appear as like triple dots.. are long range cons really a couple of dots superimposed or is it only 1 3d object? It looks like there is ta dot being rendered as well as the aircraft model and they get split up by the glasses.

If you are using a Cougar, it would help to map a zoom key that also switched you from pan to snap view and allowed you to lock the view. Seems that would get by the movement issue when trying to aim.

I don't think his problem is a zoom issue from what I've read of other threads regarding 3D glasses. The same problem manifest's itself in WB and WW2OL apparently and it's the way the gunsight is displayed that is the problem. Not sure how easy it would be to fix without rewriting the gunsight code but would be nice if they could fix it easily.

thats not the problem dejavu./ put your finger in front of your face one foot, then try to look at an object 10 feet away behind the finger. this is the effect you get. you can look at the gunsight and have the target all blurry, or look at the target and see two gunsights. Its because as is the gunsight's depth is programmed to be on the glass, while IRL it was a projection that appeared to be focused at infinity (which is exactly the reason why they switched to reflector gun sights)

Ah.. gotcha.
Is there currently a game/sim that models a gun sight with targets that range from 50 yards away to 1000 yards away that works with the 3d glasses?

This might sound dumb (I haven't tried 3D glasses yet), but aren't you actually getting an accurate 3D effect? When you're focusing on a distant object, each eye's perspective of the closer gunsight is slightly different. To aim more accurately, you'd have to close one eye to see your target through the sight. I guess it depends on how bad the double-vision effect is. If the "two" sights are way apart, that could be a problem.
But then, in RL you may tend to lean into the sight more to reduce the doubling effect, which is why zooming in may help.
Just a theory based on no experience. :)
As for the multiple dot thing, I dunno.

Tabasco, the kind of gunsights used in WW2 fighters were built specifically to PREVENT that effect from happening.

Ah, I see.

Tabisco you are more accurate in shooting in real life if you do not close one eye, with practice you will actually see the sight super imposed over the target. Like I say it takes practice but I have taught 1,000's of cops to shoot this way and thier scores go up into the high 90's where they were barely qualifing.
It will even work with scoped rifles and you can come to bear on your next target faster because you can see it provided you have taken the far right one first, or left one if you are left handed.

I shoot handguns and rifles with both eyes open. I was at the range and a cop noticed my USP .45acp. We started to chit-chat and he stated that I was an alright shot, by the target that was still on the hanger. What the idiot failed to know is that it was an off-hand, one handed target shoot! 98% of my shots from then on were in the black. I calmly packed up my gun and brass. Walked over to him and said alright, huh? He had a look of amazement over him. I said "Doesn't it scare you that "civilians" shoot better than most cops?" and walked away.
My buddy and I shoot once a week, he is THE BEST shot I have ever seen, and probably will see in my life.

best way to shoot with both eyes is to use a Singlepoint gunsight - red dot, focussed at infininty, no power required, works in lowlight. Indestructable.

I had this happen to me tonight with cons that were outside of icon range. One of the times I thought it was a flight of bombers until I got within icon range, which then showed it as a singe soon to be very dead bf109G-2. Not using 3D glasses either.

I also tried using the 3d glasses. Tried them offline first and it surely did appear that the gunsight was useless. The 3d glasses work fine......but reading the gunsight is a chore at best.

This is the same thing that makes the gunsight change in size as you move your head with the arrow keys. And the lit sights should be lit up if its possible..
Would it be possible to draw the gunsight far out in front of the plane, so the a gunsight appears the same every plane, no matter where your head is?
This probably ISNT a simple request, since if it was simple, it probably would have been done long ago.

IL-2 does the focus at infinity, at least to the extent that moving back and forth won't change the size of the sight. I haven't tried it with 3d-glasses to know if it also works with that. Have you tried 3d-glasses in that Zig?
Problem with AH might be that even the "stuck" gunsight we have now was added as an aftertouch, not from scratch like in IL-2. Further adding the infinity thingie might not be that simple, but I'd sure like if it were. 109 sights tend to get rather small now.
