Or pushing from the middle of the rear bumper :D
Rip must be in a coma not to have replied yet :D

Just bought the 1996 about 8 weeks ago. The LT1 is 300hp but the damn car has no weight to it. 6 speed tranny, took 3 months to find. They only made 4500 6 speeds standard transmissions.
Wanted the C5 body style but still a bit to pricey for me, will trade up to a 2002 in 3 years.
Dog out..

No 2002 Audi's on the list? :D

Porsche, there is no substitute.

They quit making Corvettes in 1969. Anything built after that is an imposter. :D

This is a Roadster :D

Hajo..
Z3 is a womans car, thats what your wife drives?
Z7 is a guys car, but even that is to small for the price they want.

Something tells me that Wardog has noodle envy as well as German Manufacturing envy. ;) Nice vettes Wardog, love to have one, but I have to have back seats for the rug rats. ;)
Finally got a look at your Z3 Hajo! Nice!
Mox, Audi's not on the list because of A)No defects yet found or B)Not enough safety defects on a particular problem to warrant the min. number of complaints for a Recall. This site doesn't have TSB's on it, just safety recalls. TSB's tell the real truth of a car, but you have to pay a monthly fee for that website.

WD LOL they didn't have the Z7 when I bought this in 2000. This car is very quick and fast. Hugs the road, will out corner most anything.........5 speed and weighs a mere 2200 LBS.
Hmmmmm that's better then a 1hp/1lbs ratio
Seriously.....I was around to see the Vette born.....yup I'm that old. I miss the days when they were powered by 283s', 327's, 427s' and 454s'. The unmistakable rumble and earth shaking days of the Vette have long since passed. They now are cutesy wootsy 350s..........truly a womans car. The first Vettes had inline sixes.. They ruled the roost until the Hemi Cuda came out. Cudas only problem was getting the HP to the road. I miss the Mako Shark.......the Split Window or sometimes called the 3 Window Coupe. Vettes were truly Classic then. As a matter of fact I liked their styling until 85, and alas......it no longer became a distinctive american roadster........they copied european styling.
Vette is still a Vette.....but unfortunately performance in HP and Torque left in the early 70s' because of the insurance corps. My first new ride was a 1969 Road Runner.....still dream about it occaisionally......was a great car, but as all american cars were at that time built cheaply. If it lasted 5 years without rusting one was lucky.
As a matter of fact..........this is a true story. A good friend of mine, we work together owned an 89 Vette Convertible. In 1991 I bought a Stealth RS. When I bought it, he ragged me about the Stealth......so after taking a pounding we decided to see what was what. We got on a local interstate, Route 11 in Ohio runs North and South and decided to see who was faster. Closest he got in 1/2 mile was when we were at a stop lined up.....The Vette looked nice in my rear view mirror......that's the only look I got of it. After half a mile I backed down......alas there are no more american made muscle cars after the early 70s' :(

Got lots of Mercedes at our office, Rob our 26 year old sales person runs a AMG55 Benz, Boss has a S500 (2001), SL500 (2003) and his wife drives the ML380 4x4.
My Boss and his wife are both German. Wont buy anything if it wasnt made in Germany.
Jason at Harbour Marine has a 2002 BMW M5, he has already ordered a 2003 M5 with the V10 engine.
I just dont do or support Euro Cars. My Dad worked for GM for 35 years and i was brought up with Chevs.
Plus, i dont make the money the sales guys do :)

Porsche, there is no substitute.
Exactly porsche got the least problems after some time

WD just kidding with you
Corvette IS the only american made roadster. Always has been, always will be! I've always appreciated German mechanical design. I've worked many years, put 2 children through college, one more to go. At the young age of 52 I decided it was time for Dad, and since I'm now single and working my 28th year doing a very difficult, dangerous, and hot job (Gen Turn Supv Blast Furnaces) was time for a toy. Like your admiration of the Corvette, which is a fine automobile by the way, I've admired the BMW.........so I bought myself a toy. One never grows up.......and in my case I hope I never do. ;)
-
One never does grow up :)
I am 44 and have always owned muscle cars. To me the vette is now an affordable option at my age. Low miles so i know i wont be sinkin tons o money into it. Took a 2002 Vette Z06 for test drive, wicked LS1 puttin out 405hp. But at 78k CDN its a bit to much cash for me. Maybe in 5 more years or so.
Dog out, and havin fun ;)

don't know much about those BMW thingies... Hooligan has a '98 M3 tho and I drove it. It is kinda nice on the inside but complicated. The car is pretty ugly and I couldn't find it in the parking lot. It is also pretty slow and handles funny. Does BMW make a fast, good handling version of their car that doesn't look so bad?
nice vettes tho. I don't think any "stealths" will be walking away from any late 90's on vettes. The only manufacturer that makes a roadster any more is some outfit that is making lotus super 7's. You guys wouldn't know a roadster if it bit ya on the butt.

Lazs, as you know, visual taste is in the eye of the beholder, I find Austin Healy's one of the ugliest cars on the planet, only surpassed by the famous Gremlin....
Nice car Hooli, good year for the M3 as well! You got a M3-2 or M3-4?

comparing a 55 healey and a new BMW's looks is apples and prunes. To compare the prunelike bmw with something not a roadster and more along the same styling cues you would have to go to a 55 Chevy 4 door strippo model in some sort of metalic silver color. the chev would still look a lot nicer of course but it would be not so unfair to the bmw.
after driving my cars hooli and I checked the bmw for plug wires maybe having fallen off or something on the poor bimmer.. no luck.. the dealer checked the car an assured us that it was running fine but had the gaul to say that it was the "hi performance" engine! When we went to get the car we both tried to get into the wrong car a couple of times before finding the right one. If it were mine I would paint it with flames or something to help finding it in some of the larger parking lots.

Isn't it a Red 3 series that the Ambigously Gay Duo drive in that SNL cartoon?
I'm pretty sure it is.
