Title: Believe it or not funnies..
Post by: Kweassa on September 05, 2002, 09:18:30 PM
The Juvenile Commando

 -  In May of 1945, right before the surrenber of Germany, a Russian tank fired at a building where a young Jugend soldier was hiding at. The building collapsed, and the boy tumbled out of the second floor, fell down at a Russian jeep in which the division commander was in.

The division commander died at the spot from a broken neck, the boy survived.

....

 The Crack Shot

 - In the battlefields of Russia, 1941, two German soldiers were in a tight pinch as they encountered a Russian tank. Having no heavy weapons what so ever, one of the soldiers took out a hand pistol and shot at the tank in desperation.

The bullet went inside through the hull machine gun barrel, blew up the machine gun, ignited the fuel tanks and blew the whole machine up.

....

 Why North Koreans are Evil

 - In the Korean war, August 13th, 1950, four US soldiers armed with a bazookas launched a total of 22 volleys in to a North Korean T-34 battle tank.

All 22 shots hit on target, but the T-34 survived. Fired one blast, killed three soldiers, and the fourth soldier fled the scene in panic.

....

 When It Rains it Pours

 - During the Vietnam war, one platoon of US troops were ambushed during a patrol. One soldier fled for cover and dived into a shabby hut nearby, but found out that the hut was booby-trapped.

He escaped by jumping out the window and landed on his belly, discovering there was a land mine installed on the spot he was laying down.

....

 Overkill

 - In 1918, during the first World War, the English decided to rout the German army positions by the river Seine. They  used 20 thousand field artillery guns, pouring down 8,000 tons of shells on German positions.

Four German soldiers were injured from this attack.

....

 Almost, but No Cigar

 - In 1980, PLO suicide bombers barged into a US Marines headquarters with a truckloadl of bombs and levelled the whole building.

Of the 200 people inside, 198 survived. The two people killed were civilians.

....

Why it Pays to Be a Rich Country

 - During the Gulf War in 1991, 13 Iraqui tanks engaged a single American M1A1. All the shots they fired landed 30 meters in front of the M1A1.

The American tank went in reverse at full speed, began firing, and knocked out all 13 Iraqui tanks at 210 meters range. All the crew members of the M1A1 received a special promotion.

....

 Talk About Elitism

 - In 1944, at the Normandy area, three German Tiger tanks met a battalion of Shermans. Of the 62 Shermans 43 were destroyed.

The Tiger tanks lost two headlights.

....

 A Game of Catch

 - In 1940, two RAF Stirlings met face to face with a German bomber and engaged it with on-board gun positions, but soon ran out of bullets. The crew looked around and realized there was an all-purpose net on board. The two planes maneuvered below the  German bomber, opened the nets wide, and caught all the bombs dropping down and returned to base with it.

A few days later, the two Stirlings carried the same bombs all the way to London and gave them back to the Germans.

....

Thirty Pieces of Silver.. Ermmm, Gold

 - In 1945, the US 1st Infantry Division launched a patrols unit to safeguard a certain bank inside a German city. While on guard duty, German mechanized units attacked the guarding troops. Facing heavy losses, the commander of the US troops ordered to fall back inside the bank to prepare for a secondary line of defense. As 57 soldiers took position inside the bank, one soldier misthrew a grenade which blew up near the bank safe. The shock of the blast threw open the safe doors and the US troops found themselves standing in the middle of a gold deposit.

The US commander decided to try and negotiate with the Germans, persuading them as every German knew the Reich was soon to fall apart. Surprisingly, this deal paid off and the Germans agreed to trade 30 gold bars with a Tiger tank.

The new 'American' Tiger attacked retreating German soldiers and wiped them out. The 30 gold bars were safely returned inside the vault.

....

 Trial and Error

 - During the Battle of the Bulge, US military engineers encountered an abandoned Jagd Tiger tank blocking the narrow road. The commanding officer decided to clear the road and tried to push the Jagd-Tiger out of the way with four available Sherman tanks. The Jagd-Tiger refused to move. Then, the officer decided to just blow it away using 400 grams of TNT explosives. The explosive did nothing but dig holes around the Jagd-Tiger. For two days the US engineers tried to move the Jagd-Tiger away and every single attempt failed.

Finally, they decided to create a path around it by cutting down the trees and moving the rocks. The new path was finished in 30 minutes.

 ......

 Believe it or not.. :)

Are these stories all true? Honestly, I don't know. :)

A Game of Catch

Sorry, some of them might be true, but I dont believe the one about the two British bombers "catching" the bombs from the German aircraft.

A) I dont believe any bomber just happened to carry a big net on board, weight was always critical and no unnecessary equipment would be aboard.

B) No way to string a net between to bombers in flight.

c) Even if a net could be hung between two bombers before flight, the bombs would either rip through a net, or pull down on the net pulling the bombers together.

Just aint no way.

I don't get it, how does it make them evil?

The one about the gold and the Tiger tank sounds suspiciously like "Kelly's Heros", which I highly doubt was based on a true story.

GoFaster's Island

- During one of the island map rotations, a massive onslaught of Knights engaged an equally massive defense of Bishops over an island containing only a single Bishop airbase.  For nearly an hour, the Knight carrier fleet launched aircraft after aircraft to attack the base, while the Bishops launched raid after raid against the carrier, with neither force able to completely route the other.  When the sun went down, GoFaster launched a single LVT against the Bishop city and captured it, stranding two Bishop flak panzers in the middle of town and 15 to 20 Bishop air force pilots without a field under them.  The ground ack promptly started shooting at Bishops that were circling the field down low while the Knights engaged the Bishops up high.

And that, my friends, is true!

Gloves Gooney run.

There I was sneaking my goon into a well defended city.  Fighters were everywhere.  My base was from the north of the target, so I flew southeast, then turned toward the target - on the deck the whole time.  I could see the Spits & LA-7's circling, but they didn't spot me.  Somehow I managed to get close enough to the city for a good drop, so I opened my doors and....

CRAP! - I forgot I loaded cargo the previous run & didn't change back to troops.

All that white knuckle flying only to give supplies to them instead of take the city.

(Yep, it really happened)

i was simply flying along in a hth rom when 5 bnzers drop on me all fly plast at about 500 mph and i didnt get hit once. i realsed they were coming and slowed down after they shot past me they turned around and tryed to HO me (i was in a c202) they were still balazing at around 450 so i ping each of em 20 times and they die. then with 5 kills under my belt i head for home and just as i touch down i the ground around me erupts. i look up and there 6k above me is a enemy lancaster. i continue my landing and go back to the tower. turns out the lancaster dropped his entire 42k of bombs from his formation in the area around me. luckily i was carrying anough speed as i touched that i didnt get any damage done AT ALL.

i then proceeded to stop about 7 panzers attacking the base with the mg on my m16

there a even better story than "why north koreans are evil"
