Also, are there any tips or web sites that ofter REAL tactics when flying w/ a wingie ?

"How often do you fly w/ a wingman? "
Almost never. Maybe once in the last 6 months.

Often.

I usually just fly around someone that exercises good team tactics. Who knows when to bounce and when to drag... who engages the other con, not the same con. Things like that. They're pretty easy to spot in the MA.

It's always nice to have a wingman. It really depends on having one whos going to work with you. It's a huge advantage for two people to be working together in any fashion, wether from takeoff, or just helping each other out over a target.
-
Only on squad nights do I have a genuine wingman. Other nights, I'm as likely not to fly with the squad as with it. Since I do about 70% of my flying from carriers, and few of my squadies are interested in CV ops, I tend to find myself alone or with other unattached pilots. However, in most cases we will organize on the spot and work as a team. Some guys won’t cooperate, but the majority do, and in most cases it pays off.
One problem I have with wingmen I don’t know is their inability or unwillingness to stick close to me. Watching a wingy wander off into a horde of red dots is a never-ending source of amusement.
“Hey, where are you going, stay close to me!”
“I’m just chasing this niki.”
“Don’t go down there, there’s more than a dozen of ‘em.”
“I’m almost in range…… Crap, I’m down. Never saw ‘em.”
Time to go back to the TA to work on SA and using the dar to avoid gangbangs. ;)
One of my squadies, who happens to be one of the nicest people I know, always seems to find himself in the middle of a watermelon sandwich. His most common words uttered on voice com are, “I’m in my chute.” But he doesn’t care, he’s having fun and that is the bottom line. Besides, there’s not an ounce of fear in him. Regardless of the odds, he dives straight in, with typical results. Picture Buster Keaton flying fighters, and you will undestand.

I try all the time....Wingman..and good wingamn KIK ASSSSSSSSSS
Thats what so sweet about our Squad...We have a lot of playersin here and they enjoy working together,,we all use vox
And there ar e some great books on Winman tactics...And they defnlty work in AH
Boxing-Scissors ..all that toejam works exccelnt in AH arenas....
I think the most important is...Spacing..Never fly wing tip to wing tip....on that same note..dont be more then 3k away from each other when in range of nme....
The Setup is what makes wingman get kills.....
I cant tell you how many times my wingman will drag a guy behind him..and i dive on nme..he either does his typical Blind man tactic and keep s foloiwng my wing man,,,which i kill him..or he turns to face me....at that instant..my wingman turns and is now on hi ass....
What gets good is when its 20 wingman vs 20 Wingman...now thast when REAl Disciplin eworrks..and you will see who has the real Wingman atctics going and....well whos on fire....

Wierd but I never fly with a wingman though sometimes people have recruited me to be there wing in the arena for a sortie because we are outnumbered. Nothing ever planned though. and I agree that wingman tactics are effective.
-
in our squad....i love using BGBMAW as wingman. Finally got him trained to take of elevators or wingtips so I can come in for the kill.
-
Unless I'm with a squadmate almost never. It is fun to pickup a wingman by either clearing his 6 or evening out the odds in a 2v1. When you help a pilot survive a fight the resulting commaradery that I get from most pilots in that situation is a good feeling especialy if you don't "know" the person you helped out of a tough situation.
Winging on each and every flight greatly reduces the chance of a 1v1 and for me, that is the ultimate kind of fight in AH as far as the fun factor goes.
-
yes im not really a wingman..but more of a "fluffer " .like in the porn business..
I get all the womne ready for Big Guns to finish them off...
He only lets me fly planes that have small guns..303's and such..I then can only peper the wings of nme's..So BiG Guns comes in and gets the kills....
Now thats what a good wingman will do...
O ya.. a good wingman will always give u a check 6...atleast every other 5 min..lolo BiG Guns:)

I wing with a squaddie almost when ever their on. We tend to usually work better in numbers, i have someone to clear my six while im always there to clear theirs, a win win situation. Communication skills (vox) are always manditory (even tough i dont practice it as much as i should). But when there isnt a squaddie around i will fly alone and use my SA to keep track of my location. Usually works very well when you know where you are and dont get too slow when there are many cons are.
Here are some website i found:

If you're interested in wingman tactics, drop by the CT. Most everyone flies with wingmen there, and a good portion fly in squadron formation. I almost always fly with at least one other 880, often as many as 6-8.
-
don't have wingmen too often but I always enjoy bailing out countrymen who are in trouble, nothing sweeter than robbing an enemy of what looks like an easy kill so I suppose that counts as impromptu winging.
-
once or twice a week
It really helps, I'd recommend it. I find that only squad mates are dependable Check 6 users.
-
Whenever possible. Historical tactics (http://www.raf303.org/308/tactics/fingerfour.htm) not only excite my anal-retentive brain, but they work too.
-
BG my dad runs Super Sportsman Heavy at Blue Max. We go to Kinsmen sometimes too. Let me know if you ever come to a Blue Max race and we'll meet up.
Love that Kinsmen track. Turn 1 trail-braking separates the men from the boys real quick. :)

Checkthis (http://www.332viking.com/docs/formationflying.htm) 332 Vikings linkpage out!
4 good link about wingman tactics. Contain Andy Bush's great article in SimHq.

I have a question concerning 2vs1 offensive wingman tactics.
Lonely, higher con is heading to merge with speed advantage. How to solve this sitution?
Below is my 0.2€ idea:
- first normal bracket move
- after (if) the enemy has choise target and headin to 1vs1 merge, support wingman cut the corner to get intercept course with con
- engaged wignman could try "Short HO" and/or break off with barraller roll evasion move
- support wingman try to get snapshot to the enemy but same time try to avoid burn too much his own E
- fast evaluate con reaction and general SA and wingup again
- extend, sandwich, split etc which depends how con is reacting after merge...
Any comments?
-
Well for the con without a wingman, first thing I would do is not go on offense but go on pseudo offense (really defense on the merge) and confuse the hell out of the two other cons. Make lotsa of movements, direction changes and such at high speed conserving his E. That will screw them up. Go kill the weaker con (an aerial kill that is heavily skill related in my opinion occurs within seconds of a swicth from defense to offense, beyond that your playing with cards of luck). Confuse, find weak, kill ;)
My humble 2 cents.
No really this is my honest philosophy towards ACM, fast kills otherwise on defense.

Every chance I get, without my "Uber" Wingmen, I'm dead meat;)

I fly with a GOOD wingman whenever i can .. if he isn't good .. more hurt than help.
:so usally only fly wing when a twin engined devil is on: :D
a single con can't make a pass at one of us without getting shot at...
CAN'T .. don't care how much alt he has
=Twin Engined Devils=

i wing with one of the greatest pilots in the WORLD, Spork42. No one kills pirates like he does.
