According to the help file the fixed view " Fixed View - Takes you to an external view that is fixed in space. " I took this to mean that the camera will decouple itself from the airplane and you can view thr dogfight independently (Much like the fixed view in Hitechs old original AW film viewer). However it remains locked on the subject aircraft. It would be nice to see a free floating camera view in future versions of the program, as well as wire frame view per the original viewer. Just my two cents. Either way it's quite a blast.

Problem is that AH only keeps track of target very close to you. Anything past your imediate view is only updated occasionally, and not with any specific info like heading etc.
I would like an independant camera, within the confines, so it would make flybe shots and such easier.
