will there be the option of damage control on large aircraft
2 examples spring to mind
granted that on a single seater fuel systems would be simple but a bomber has a more complex fuel system....so if you get a leak in on tank...you dont lose all your fuel...just that tank...would a fuel tank selecter switch be availble ?
large aircraft also had fire extinuishing systems so an engine fire while simple on a fighter ie it burns on a multi engine could be put out...
a nice red fire button to press perhaps
system management on a "big" plane would be more immersive and need not be complex
part of the appeal of the buffs for me was fighting to get home an ailing buff after damage...
hope they are more than bomb trucks and something for the fighters to shoot at...
while i enjoy shooting them down i like to fly them for thier pure flying skills they req'd...
just a few thoughts from one of the jaded ones (http://beta.hitechcreations.com/ubb/wink.gif)
look forward to seeing the damage model...
does one load up the flame thrower or the beer keg....
either way im looking forward to it...from what ive read so far the beer glasses are out

I'd like to expand on that. I've been asking for something like that in WB for a while. We supposedly have "self-sealing" tanks, but regardless of what tank gets hit, all the fuel eventually drains out. This is especially troubling in aircraft like the P-51 which had a tank behind the cockpit and 2 independant (I believe) wing tanks.
Bombers should have it, but fighters should, too, where applicable.

Agreed. You bring up good points. The use of fire suppression equipment on those planes equipped with it is something we've been thinking about.
Tanks in the fuel system are modeled separately and you can switch between them. A fuel leak in one won't drain the whole system. CG will even change depending on your fuel load.
Along the lines of your suggestions, we want the bombsight to require some preparation like having to manually set some parameters of your drop profile.

And what about shuting down an engine to save it? In WB, one of your engines bot hit, it seemed to do little good to shut it down. It kept smoking for all to see and was still dead after a set time, so you could not use it latter fo say, landing.

Damn Pyro! Keep goin with your bad self!
(translation: Sounds great, please pursue to the maximum extent possible).
Really! Requireing manual effort to load data into bombsight! Being able to set off fire extinguishent! Manage fuel load between tanks! Just awesome!!!! Keep going!

Once we get more 109 versions, like I am sure we do, will the same apply for the cooling system for the proper models?

Hey Pyro I was just wondering ( as sweat from 100 degree temp and 97% humidity ) will they have an air conditioner too? ; )

Gotta say I like the sound of this... give the bomber guys something to do... turn it into a management of the aircraft sort of thing... anyone remember MicroProse B17... well that was like that... move around the bomber... different crew stations did different things... if you wanted to use the radio you had to jump to the radio operators seat... look at the map then jump to the navigators seat... fire in an engine you hit the extinguisher... if that didn't work you had to dive to extinguish the flames or risk loosing your wing to a near terminal explosion when the fire reached the fuel tanks...
hey... just remembered... Microprose B17 II is coming out very soon I think (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/smile.gif)

Yep...Flying Fortress 2 is coming out soon
and its going to be a awesome game...like the first one where you move about to different areas etc....your also going to see your guys moving around too so if your a side gunner and look behind you, youll see your squad mate firing away on his guns as a FW190 comes screaming in etc...also your able to fly the fighters too P-47Ds and P-51Ds etc and Axis planes also....and playing on the net your able to fly Escort missions your your friend who maybe taking a formation of 10 plus B17s to the target....alot of Flight Sims are heading for release very soon and games like WBs going to have a run for its money
and yes the management system on this game for the bomber pilots is going to be more interesting than on WBs

Multiple fuel tanks and pumping fuel from leaking tank to another was already introduced in SWOTL by Lucasarts if remember right.
