Post by: hblair on September 10, 2002, 02:23:26 PM
I went back over to the BMW board today for the first time in weeks to see what my boys were up to. I thought I'd troll the guys but they aint biting. Give me some tips on how to get them going. My handle is "classy guy". I'm the one with the '74 bmw 2002 with a dropped valve. :)

Are you using millimetric wrenchs ? As you know BMW is european car and all bolts are measured in millimeters, not inches.

LOL.. duh!

Post you decided to yank the crappy beamer motor and slap in a 350 chevy, "the greatest motor ever"

That will get them going I bet. :D

lol Do the engine thing.

Another could be, yanking the body and mounting it on an old chevy truck chassis!

Or mounting the whole thing on cinder blocks and converting it to a smoker!!

Post by: hblair on September 10, 2002, 04:53:24 PM
The engine thing didn't help, they're still not biting. :)

For some reason I think you guys are making fun of me. And that's not cool. Yep of course i know beemers use metric wrenches. But I don't have any so I got the closest standurd one. And it don't fit!  I've already striped out the bolt on the valve cover. That gets my rocks off.

I'm seriously thinking of dropping the small block motor out of my camaro in this thing. Does anybody know where I can find a kit to do that? chevie motors are a lot more dependable anyway.

Maybe BMW people are so bland and boring they don't care?

LoL I always hate to see a 60s Pontiac with a chevy motor in it, The different motors all the GM divisions of the 60s had gave the cars character.

It's funny too the dumbprettythang always thinks the car is worth more with cheby motor in it.

Hblair, You sure you wanna troll?? I didn't troll them because the moderator seems like he's a nice guy, and after Rip left their group partly due to what we were saying I felt bad over that and chilled on Beemer Boards. Be careful, one of the hazards of being a troll (besides shopping for clothes in the children's section) is that you don't make many friends.

It's always my intention to entertain, and my reward is making people laugh over some of the crazy stuff we all say. I don't mind pissing people off, but I don't intend to make people feel bad about themselves. However, you asked me for tips, and I remember how badly some of those guys treated you so here goes. We'll use the Bimmer group as our example.

1) Start subtly. For instance, if someone mentions a BMW innovation like wiper blades on headlights state innocently that Tucker first did that and BMW got the idea from him.

2) After someone challanges you on this and points out that Tuckers didn't have headlight wipers agree quickly with them, but state it was a patent owned by Tucker that was bought by the BMW people after Tucker's bankruptcy.

3) Then when you're challanged on this whopper, state that you're positive on this point and that, in fact, many current BMW innovations were copied from an original Tucker.

4) By now you should have them going. Stick to your guns, continue to claim BMWs borrowed technology from Tucker and, in fact, are actually the forerunner of the modern day BMW.

5) After the howling starts then you REALLY drop a bombshell on them- Claim Tuckers were faster and handled better than the modern-day BMW sedans. They'll go nuts.

6) Then you think up a really quotable quote that is totally off the wall, inflamatory and designed to be repeated in all the angry rebuttals you'll get. Something like "Had the Germans not sabotaged Tucker and stolen his technology the modern day BMW would more closely resemble a Toyota." Then call them all Nazi apologists. I guarantee that even those who have been following your lures but haven't bitten yet will jump all over this one.

Be careful, though, because some day you may get a BMW and need some advice. I never intended to play in the MA when I first started posting here, and had I known just how cool AH is and how much fun it is to play I wouldn't have pissed off quite so many people. Now I get whacked by some of you and get taunted with private messages laughing at me.

I've heard this one too. sadly though, that is just hollywood drama made for the big screen. bmw didn't manufacture many airplane engines in wwII. The blue/white round crest is an impeller blade on a water pump. The blue is the water. The white is the blade. Bmw built many irrigation pumps for use in holland during the war to dry out the land the germans were taking. that's where the hood crest came from. many died in the wool bmw men don't weant to hear this. this is from a reliable source though.
