In Hot Pursuit (Iraqis chase Predator drones) (http://www.abcnews.go.com/sections/wnt/DailyNews/iraq020910.html)

It hit the brakes, and they flew right on by.

I bet some clever guy will put rear firing stingers on the predators. :D
Lets hope they release that gun cam footage tho.

Put a micro cam on one of those RC things and arm it with a 20mm. Create some software that can link it to the P-38 in AH via military net->internet and let me at em. I can take an Iraqi Mirage I know I can.
:D

Better yet. Just have the drone drag the migs past a patriot battery masked by terrain. Bye bye migs! Then release "combat footage" showing the drone "engaging in a dogfight" and killing the migs. :D
It should do wonders for Iraqi morale. hehehe

Well hopefully their not getting much good gunnery practice from this.....
Why didn't we shoot them down?
-
Speaking of drones... Do ya think with all the new pilotless plane technology fast approaching that some of us (OK some of you) may be better suited for aerial combat than "real" pilots?
-
Boy a rear firing AMRAAM on a Predator would really ruin those MiGs days :)

Without a doubt. Currently much of being a fighter pilot is physical. G-forces, vision, etc. A remotly piloted aircraft is limited only by the mind of the pilot, and it's own construction.
Unmanned fighters and aircraft will never completly takeover though. Trusting AI to determine its own targets is a scary proposition, and remote links are too easily jammed. Unmanned attack craft may work in afganistan, but against a country with a sophisticated military, they'll be of limited use.
There will always need to be someone up there in a plane. Unless some sort of revolutionary unjammable communication system is devised.
Here is a more immediate question,
Will saddam grow bold enough to try and use his migs against manned american aircraft?

Na not for me, its more fun if your in the plane.

Ahhh... no. Well, maybe in a last ditch "Throw everything at'em".
