Anyone use or used Act Labs wheels?
I'm looking for a step up replacement for my Logitech Formula GP, and wondering if Act Labs is the best route. I really want something with a lot of pedal resistance, and good, crisp, solid control on the wheel. Separate brake and accellerator axis are a big plus as well - I mostly like Rally games, so left foot braking is a plus, and a fancy clutch and shifter is not (the paddles are good).
I'm interested in the NON force feedback model - don't like FFB.
Am I correct in thinking that the Act Labs wheels turn further than straight right and left (90 each way, 180 total)?
If there is something else out there worth looking at, let me know about that too - but again, I have zero interest in the FFB wheels, even though the fancy ones seem to all be FFB.
Anyway, any input would be appreciated.

Act Labs makes nice stuff, but so does Logitech. I'm using the MS Sidewinder wheel and wished I had spent a little more for better components.
Check out the Ferrarri and Momo wheels.
You're smart to avoid the FF. Not worth the cost.

Actlabs is ok, but as far as I can gather, a little random in quality control.
The Logitech Momo is said to be a better buy. (And you can always disable the FF, if you don't like it).
If you really want to 'step up' have a look at BRD wheels and pedals.

Quite popular amongst the real nuts in my GPL league:)

I have own 3 wheels, a logitech MOMO, act labs FF, and logitech formula force GP.
The act labs spiked often and the shifter broke on me and I am very gentle with all of my gaming stuff. My friend also has it and loves it no problem.
The momo is FF, and have 270 degree movement if I recall.
Ahh sorry just realized you are not looking for FF, although i do have to say if it is configured correctly it can't be beat.

I have used the Logitech (GP and Momo), the Thrustmaster Ferrari, and the Act Labs wheels and my favorite has always been the Momo. I noticed little difference in quality between the different models but the Momo wheel just felt better.
There's another wheel called TSW. I've never tried it but there are a ton of hardcore racing sim guys who swear by it. Its pretty expensive but apparently its the best. You can check it out at http://www.thomas-superwheel.com/.

Made in USA and very high quality.

I don't want to buy features I'm not going to use. I don't need top o' the line - I just want something that is somewhat to significantly better than my Logitech.

Holy crap, that thomas stuff is WAY out of my price range. :)

I have a Logitech FFB wheel myself. I dont play too many car racing games anymore though. Wish someone would make a good motorcycle controller as there are some great bike games out there. Problem is its very hard to control the thing with a joystick and I keep crashing. The throttle should be in the right bar twist, no FFB needed for the bars (real thing doesnt have that sorta feel). Thomas CTRL shopuld make a unit, I think people would buy it.
