Looks good !
-
Well Done HTC.
-
Looks like the timing is off on the B-roll P51's fellas ;)
-
WTG!
Charon
-
Is this the commercial that’s going to be running on Discovery Wings that I heard about?
Looks great!
:D
-
Looks great! Hope ya got some more larger maps in the oven. :)
-
Cool, how could anyone resist? Made me wanna fly! BTW why the P 47s flying in formationat the end, and not YAKs??
:(
:D :D
-
-
WHERE ARE SPIT?!
WTG HTC :D
-
Just showed the film to a co-worker...we may have a new member soon!
WTG guys.
(One small suggestion...constructive, not critical:
The showing of the actual footage from the war tends to make the footage of the game look a bit cartoon-like. I don't think you need it. More footage of the game could replace it.)
Again...this is NOT a criticism...I think you guys have done a great job.
-
Well done HT!
Two things your left with after viewing this...
1. Logon to Aceshigh.com
2. Free Two Week Trial
The action footage throughout increases your curiosity and wraps it all up well.
Remember guys...the point of this ad is to cause folks to logon and just chk it out...the product will either stand on it's own for those who try it or it will not....the ad will have done it's job.
Have Yankee order more deposit books from the bank:D
-
Looks great!
Rude, Toad, check out the pics in the OT club I posted of my trip to your hangar.
-
Looks real good. I've done a lot of spot and have bought it also. If you want, I could steer you to a good agency. I've worked with a lot of them.
-
why wasnt yankee talking? :D
-
Is this a wrap, or are you looking for suggestions?
-
My puter loads it in Quicktime, then shows a broken link? :(
-
nice :D
-
Should definitely add more players.
Gawd, I hate to bring this up... (so I'll use small font) but I was shocked at the upload streaming. Constant stuttering through several fresh streaming attempts. I don't have that happen very often (fiber-optic connection with no firewall issues).
-
Very nice advert! I liked the use of the in-game footage and it got the information across..where to get it and you get a free two week trial and probably more importantly no credit card required which often put's people off. I hope this pay's off for HTC.
-
It looks great! It should certainly pique the interest of the WWII aircraft-loving viewers who don't know about AH.
-
Good Job! :D
-
I love 2 P-47s formation. :D
It's beautiful.
-
I have a feeling the MA is gonna be full of fodder after this runs a few times. :)
We'll be like grizzlies in the river with spawning salmon.
Good looking commercial, gets the point across.
-
Anyone know when this is going to air?
-
Tomorrow I believe Innom.

Nice add. Liked it. Gets the point across, makes you want to check it out. Great one HT. Good luck with it.

He he! Good analogy hblair!:D
-
Shoulda put the KI 61 in there HT..:)
-
I know for some reason I shouldn't be typing this BUT, I don't like it:(
why? I'm not sure, but I feel HTC can do better , MUCH better. Some think it captures a feeling for the game I have to disagree. I do like the blending of real and game footage.
But I still think some parts are choppy and cheesy.
Think back... AW when released had the 109's and the b-17's MAN that was a great promo!!! it had spirit, and feeling. This, I don't feel anything, nor do 'I" feel it's "up to par" with promo's of todays games or what the guys at HTC CAN do.
Sorry if i hurt anyones feeling, but I just am expressing mine. And I AM an HTC cheerleader!

I pretty much have to agree with NUTTZ. AH doesn't have the eye-candy that some of the boxed sims, so more emphasis should have been placed on the advantages. Hard to do in a 30 second spot.
Community, support, flight model, blah blah blah doesn't make for a visceral advertisement, though.
Maybe if the AH film matched the real ones? Stage AH films that duplicate the events pictured in the WWII footage?
I can think of some really dramatic scenes from the air war in WWII that could be duplicated in AH:
1. P47 low on the tail of a 190; the 190 is banking away to the left and you can see the puffs from the 47's shells hitting the dirt in the field below.
2. IJN planes attacking the CVBG, and the amazing amount of tracers in the air chasing after them
3. You had the 17s dropping bombs; precede that with actual footage.
4. Same with the F4F taking off from the CV
Dunno. Have to think about it...of course since my input in the process is pretty much ZERO and I have other things to think about... :D
Still, glad to see the ads going out. BZ, HTC!!!
-
I think same..Add could be better...It's good but not as great as AH experience is.
-
Should have had some film from the scenarios or something. I didn't see any large dogfights.
-
Honestly guys lighten up, it's great that HTC has actually gone ahead and done this, this is great advertising for AH. You can have all the swanky visual and ingame footage in the world but so often the message can get lost where it does not in the ad posted above.
Besides if you really wanted to give them an idea of AH it would be footage from the MA with swarms of Nik's and La7's :D

Air time is spendy; the _LAST_ thing you want to do is "lighten up". You want to grind, and grind and pick and peck and beat on any kind of mass advertising until you squeeze out every last bit you can from it.
The more eyes that look at a proposed bit of advertising the happier I am, anyway. I'd much rather hear "nice, but..." than "perfect", because nothing is perfect.
I'm not in any way suggesting it was a bad film, I was putting my rupee in and suggesting alternative approaches. :)
By the way, on the community a nice shot of a raid taking off (40-some people in the air headed the same way) is always good for an ahhh! A good CM view of a massive multi-level furball wouldn't suck, either
Like I said in my last post, Bravo Zulu.
-
Great job HTC!!!!
Notice the shots I was in????
I'm sure you recognized my fireball.. many of you have seen it...
Single wing rolls.. and such...
:D
Great Job...

I spent ALOT of money advertising on Discovery, and CNN during the OJ trials. Advertising is expensive, I absolutely hated my first ad,, I yanked it and we redid the whole spot with another company.
Hell, it's only honest my opinion, HTC will do what they want.
personally i think HTC has it in them to really make my jaw drop in amazement, sorry it just wasn't captured in the promo to me.
The difference? MA opposed to a senerio,,,, White knuckles ,sweating, immertion..... same game different feeling.
it lacked the "white knuckles"

A scene I'd know would make me want to go try this game is this - Imagine really old WW2 camerashot of some aircrafts about to enter action/bombing/something and then it fades to ingame graphics of the same aircrafts just as this action is starting to take place... ...mmm, lovely! :D
Having seen all the screenshots people have altered so that they look like old photographs (and tried it myself), this shouldn't be too hard to do, if HTC decides to make another commercial.
-
hey nuttz, what is your job anyway?
-
IT was nice! In fact very nice! I believe some improvement could be done.
Once during the BOB CT, I seen a formation of Spitfires taking off from an airfield and it was the most impressive things I have seen in AH. Could easily be filmed.
Later in the same flight I was a member of a flight of Spits that attacked massive amounts of JU88s. Looked impressive!
Getting a formation of 4 P-51s dropping ext tanks and peeling off to attack a lower enemy would be a good one.
There was to much real footage that could be replaced with actual AH footage.
HTC has power in developing the best on-line flight sim in the world, I suggest they use it to their advantage.
Just my humble opinion!
-
I just wanna say this of the new AH commercial........
Hot Damn....FINALLY, something to watch in the commercial breaks that aint a Soloflex commercial, or that freaky chick NAncy Lynn...lol:eek:
HTC. Keep up the good work
-
Just saw it on D-Wings! Awesome! :).

I am thoroughly convinced that Nancy Lynn is being controlled by puppet strings and is kept alive on daily injections of formaldehyde. Where did they dig her up from anyway??

Um Guys,
I think your missing the bigger picture. This is the FIRST television commercial for a MMOL game. Not EQ, not UO, nobody has done this before. Once again, HTC leads the way for online sims. Maybe the Spielbergs amoung us could do a better job, and they will get their chance. This is just the 1st, there will be more I'd bet. Heck, I'd like to see a contest, wouldn't you?
I've heard talk about this ad already from DW fans. It's the 1st pitch in the game... (sorry) :) But HTC took a mighty swing and...
Goodbye Mr. Spalding! :D
WTG killas. The HTC team seems to know where they're going.
-
That ad is sure to bring in tons of new cliets. I can see it now, 15 minute text lags and dead planes flying for 30 minutes.

EQ and UO didnt have to.

Nice ad! :)
Kinda shame that it seems a bit low in resolution.. and a bit more fancy film editing could have made it better... but still, it seems very promising!
-
WTG HTC!
I had 2 folks in my department asking about Aces High this week. (they saw the ads)
One wants me to help build a gaming computer and another wants help installing a GF4 video card.
Heck, they heard me talk about Aces High many times. It wasn’t real until they watched the ad on DW.
-
I spent two and a half hours helping a guy in the TA who found AH via the add.
Remember guys (and gals), lets give these new players a friendly welcome and realize that many of them may not be gamers. Telling a non-gamer or hard core computer junkie to RTFM is offputting and will not help as they won't have a clue what you're talking about or where to get the manual.

So true!
I remember my first days in WB's (4 years ago). If not for someone (a flight sim vet) spotting this baby seal getting clubbed to death, I would have deleted the program and never tried an online flight sim again.
-
Saw the ad for the first time last night.. Looked good.. And as someone said before.. You can't compair the download clip to the one broadcast.. broadcast much better...
Thumb's up HTC!!!!

Hey! Welcome mdbaker.
Steep learning curve here.. stick with it. ;)
The game is fun. However, most of the people I met here will be life long friends. :)
Oops...sorry, I see you been here for several months.. your fair game! :p

Do you think the same could happen here?

i cant open it, whats the thread?
-
YALL check the dmn thread start date..it's a dead site now
-
HTC,
Yer ads already have em showing up in the TA.
Did you also put together a short questionaire to
see what kinda response the ad draws?
-
Hey, I saw the ad, checked out the web site, tried the 2 week trial and was more than happy to pay for this. I am new to the on line flight sim thing but an old hand at flight sims. They just got boring, the AI would always make the same moves, come from the same direction ect. The real people aspect here adds a whole new dimention and as I learn more and more (only been here 2 months) I think I am going to be quite good at this....
Thanks for the replys when I have asked questions, I haven't had any smart bellybutton answers.
-
holy crap x2lee!
I've seen double posts before, but a penta-post?
