The P-51D we have in AH depresses me.  Its pilot was killed by friendly fire on Christmas day.

Perhaps Bud Anderson's P-51D would have been better suited for AH....he named his plane after his favorite drink (Old Crow) heh heh.

I like the silver/olive/yellow schemes on the planes from the 361st.

Or maybe a 325th D w/ the yellow checkerboard tail.  That'd be kind of nifty and unique...

I like the fact that the Pony D in AH is skinned after the highest scoring P-51 ace.  It is a cool scheme.  The only thing I hope that they do to it is make it a silver/aluminum color instead of white (and do the same to the P-47D-30, P-38, and B-17 as well).

save them as a jpeg, if they're saved as bitmap (.bmp)

also if you can crop some of the extra background out - if any - that 'll help, too.

The gun doors in the left wing shows we used the same kit (Revell/Monogram 1/48). I used the decals from a Hawsagwa 1/72 kit as the kit decals were poopy.

Building models huh :D Can I give ya a little advice maybe. See the wingtip at the bottom of your photo hawklor, notice the ripple affect of the paint. That is caused by using poor quality paint spray (even in airbrush sometimes) but doing so when there are temerature differences. Example, your can was kept in the garage and its core is cold or the model was indoors and you went outdoors to spray, can was outdoors. However the factors, you can avoid this by making sure everything is resonably the same in terms of temp. Also dont use spray cans on cold day and HOT HOT day. Just some friendly info. Also crossing paint brands can also cause this and worse affects when the different solvent evapurates, causing funny stuff to occure.

Heres another, spray model in garage at night, went away left model to dry bit, came back, spray some more (now model is cold) with a different can you had indoors.

Lol the ripples could be from the spray can although it was a bit humid and raining at the time a sprayed it outdoors LOL it was sprinkling, And it could be(Not to diss my mom) her touching up the paint from her fingers lol. thanks for tip buddy this is my first time doing it tho :o i already said that so expect those

Dont get me wrong, it looks nice but I noticed that in the pict thats all. I rippled many models and eventually I figured it out. I even went through a period where the brand of clear coat I have always used was changed. It conflicted with some other stuff and created white spots all over my models. Went through 5 models like this till they figured it out and changed ingredients back. Each one was beautiful (in my mind) till I sprayed the last flatcoat then toejam. LOL

Shakes head, :(

Monogram or Revell. Monogram is more detailed but the Revell had a clear sided version (goto find it on EBAY now or on internet). They are both under 20 bucks. Think Monogram was a G and the Revell was an F model B17.

Hum, for German, Russian A/C, I recommend the HobbyCraft kits. They are cheaper than the others but very comparable. Im talkin about Tamaya and the other Japanese kits. Dont buy the Hobby craft Do17 or JU-88 (they are JUNK). All the others are good, the corsair is dam good. Basically HC kits are as detailed as Tamaya kits cept for cockpits, seperate flaps, maybe the gears here and there. They are under 20 bucks, like 14-16 bucks. Beyond that, most 1/48 scale kits today are good. Ultimate cheapo is 1/48 WWII revell which mostly are 30 year old kits (under 10 bucks). Fujimi kits are a ripp off. My favorite is Tamaya, Excellant, fair pricing for what u get. Everything else is more expensive, detailed as heck but worth it if you want it.

"Revell/Monogram PROmodeller" is good also but the pricing is kinda wierd. Sometimes its fairly priced, other times its a bit expensive. Its good though. The only bad PMod kit (not really bad) is the P-40. They didnt do anything to update the kit, just added a pilot standing and jacked price up to around 20 bucks. Its still good but there are better P-40 kits out there.

The Otaki or ARII kits are junk. 11-13 bucks.

You might have to spend some money to get an E or F 109 (Hasagawa, Tamiya). Here's a G-6 from Monogram 1/48 (cheap $12)

BTW AKWeav that is a G10. :D

The Revel Monogram (RM) Bf109G10 is a very good kit for its price, I can find them locally for $10. Hobbycraft also has a series of late 109s but they cost a bit more than the RM and the detail isnt much better.  The best 1/48 scale 109F/G/K are by Hasegawa but they cost from $25-30 dollars.  They are much better in every way including ease of construction IMHO but if I was just starting out with models I'd buy 3 of the RM 109s for my $30 and practice eliminating joint gaps, painting and weathering on them.

As for a Bf109E4 the Hobbycraft kit is pretty decent.

The best 1/48 scale B17 is the Monogram B17G.

Hawklore have fun with that Monogram P51D. :)

Yep, though the Revell G10 is actually still a good kit. I would use it as the main 109G10 in my collection (with some detailing of course) mainly cause it looks real (shape) and has good external detail. Its only REAL flaw is the poor detail of the 13mm cannon openings in the top engine cowl. I hate carving stuff like that out.  Too little material to carve on a round surface and thick plastic, irritating and you have to get both openings perfect or else cause they are right next to each other. The HobbyCraft G10 is about same IMHO just without the cowl gun issue looking fakey.

I think I have that kit - my box just says "109G".

Yours turned out much better than mine... I actually got pissed at some of the fit problems I ran into with that one and never finished.
