... you're flying a Yak9T ?
Had fun flying the little bugger and it's good A2A, 1 hit usually provides a nice insight into the other planes anatomy, however, against the foe which it was built for, namely gvs, it simply sucks.
How many shells do you have to put into the ostwind to kill it?
4 won't cut it
and no I'm just shooting the hub cannon, not the .50s ;)

I believe the cannon was pure AP so it did not explode once inside....am i correct? If so that would explain a lot :).

Hit 'em in the ass. You'll kill their engine or turret every time.
Works on PnZ IV Hs too, nails the engine.

My experience was that 3 -5 pings are enough to make him explode.

There is no hitpoints (well, shouldn't be), so you must aim your shot.
Weakest spots in a tank is rear and top.
Top is very vulnerable.
So if you come from behind at steep angle, you should easily kill a tank.

Killed a tank in 1 shot once, was definately luck. Flakpansies take about 3 like everyone said. Had an extreme case once of an LVT with troops taking 18 out of the 23 I shot at him on multiple passes thought he'd never die.

Try to hit them from the rear or sides at steep angles, 60+ deg.
I pumped 10 (TEN) 75mm AP from a PzIV into an ostie at 100yards yesterday, then he blew.
One 75mm in the side will kill them everytime.
Mg151/20 or MK108 seem to have no effect on Osties. Prolonged 7,92mm fire will tear them up, as will Browning M2 .50s.
The best method for killing these guys from the air seem to be 500kg bombs (hey, thirty, nice fitin' sunday ;) )
