Ah, there is the 64,000 question.
Unfortunatly there's no answer. For one thing, if someone is on your tail and you can't get them off you were going too slow for the situation. The Tempest (perked plane; you sure you don't mean Typhoon?) is meant to go very fast.
After that, you have to start developing a "bag of tricks", and the only way to do THAT is to practice and get shot down quite a bit.
Read Shaw while you're at it :)

ask your wingman.

Watch how people get you off thier tail and try to do the same things. There are a lot of referrence materials posted by some very good pilots in other threads (such as help and training) and thier web sites.
Learn how to use flaps.
Be concious of your "E" state. (ie. don't EVER get a P47 slower than about 250)
It's also HUGELY important to fly the plane that you choose in a way that optimizes what it does well. (for example, don't try to out run a P51 in a F4F, or try to outturn a Spit in a 190. Don't try to out roll a 190 in a Zero at over 300 mph. As a matter of fact, don't ever get your Zero over 300 mph :D. the list goes on and on and on.....) It's a matter of knowing the characteristics of the plane you are flying, using them to your advantage and knowing about a half dozen manueveres (for starters.)
but most of all PRACTICE.
But aside from that.... the best way I found to get someone off my six is to help your friends (countrymen) when someone is on THIER six by doing 6 calls clearing thier tails. It's called teamwork. ;)

The best way to get someone off your six is to never let them get there in the first place. But if you do find yourself with a bad guy behind you, there are a myriad of tactics you can try to force the over shoot.
Check out NetAces (http://www.netaces.org) for some really good lectures on reversing the fight.

Puck--
I'd bet he plays H2H, where the Tempest is usually one of the dominant airplanes.
The best way to get somebody off your tail is to not let them get there in the first place. If you DO get somebody on your tail in a better-turning plane, then you're dead unless he messes up.
One thing you can try is a sort of barrel roll with a lot of rudder thrown in; sometimes you can force the enemy to overshoot.

Tell a fellow assassin hes there and cry like a girl..works for me every time..

Rolling sissors works..............sometimes ;)
Thorns

Scissors - likely you will get the kill on them instead. BEst though you don't get in that situation in first place, tempest aint a hurricane or a zeek.
-
Any scissors variation. Chop throttle too - youd be amazed how many people just leave it on full.

Depends on his and ur E and which plane he or u are in.
Few examples:
1. He Spit V u 190A5 and he has slightly more E:
- as he comes in (lets say d800 and gaining slowly) stay calm, use wep, try slow moves to avoid his tracers, look if he stops gaining and then simply extend!
2. He Spit V u 190A5 and he has much more E:
- only thing u can do is make a barrel role and hope he will overshot, then try a snapshot. If u cant get a snapshot look what he's doing. If he conserves his E u know u will be dead. If he turns like crazy u know u have a chance to escape. Try to go to opposite direction and look if he gains on u fast. If he's gaining fast start again, if not goto 1.
3. He 190A5 u Spit V and he has slightly more E:
- try a tightening turn until he overshots, reverse fast to get a
short snapshot
4. He 190A5 u Spit V and he has much more E:
- try a short evasive, reverse fast to get a short snapshot
-
a wingman

BTW Is it really necessary to post ur question in 3 ! forums???

If future post it in one forum.
How you overshoot enemy planes depends on your plane, your gear, your speed, your alt, enemy plane, enemy speed, enemy alt, and general situation around you. Best tactics to learn anything is to keep your film on, and check films after all your sorties. Now you can even jump to enemy plane, and watch how he does it.
It is also 2 kind of overshoots, the one, which just save your life (defensive) and one, which put you in a good position for attack (aggressive). Agressive overshoots are usually more risky, and require much more expirience to be effective.
For you, while you are still a newbie, I suggest following this: if you slow, your enemy is fast, you have some alt -- split S. Very easy one, and will prolong your life for some time, when may be friendlies will come, or your enemy will make some mistake, like following you at full speed and will auger... This one easy to master and quite effective.
If you are in a better turner plane, you are low, enemy plane is about same speed -- turn hard and watch him. If he follows, keep turning. If he breaks. it is up to situation, you can get his 6, or flight straight waiting for him to make another pass.
Remember, in any case, it is important to chose a correct time when to start your defensive moves. For defensive overshoots you need to start them while he just entered the effective range for his guns, when he starts following the pipe on you, lining for a shoot. In this case more chances that he will follow your move, and this will give you a chance to turn a table.

Gotto fly on fealing, can't think about a trick that will get him off, do what the situation requires, any forms of scissors, if mastered, can get you kills and keep you allive, practise the scissors as much as you can.

To get some people off your butt requires a restraining order... it is the only way to keep them from trampling the flower bed outside your bedroom window.

If you have a tail gunner....
SHOOT THEM IN THE FACE!!!!!
If you are flying a spit...
1. Turn around
2. SHOOT THEM IN THE FACE!!!!!
If you are flying an N1K2...
1. Climb Straight up with your UFO anti-gravity thrusters
2. Turn around
3. SHOOT THEM IN THE FACE!!!!!
If you are in a P-51...
1. Point nose down and run...
2. Climb back to 25K
3. Turn around
