Title: AH Development Plans.. Graphics Engine..
Post by: =Jagr= on September 16, 2002, 07:21:09 PM
I'm very much out of the loop on AH.. VERY much so..  so if this has been beaten to death before, please excuse me.

The one major drawback I have with AH is the graphics..  They have slipped behind the curve in that area.

In my younger days I'd play Falcon or the original CK and it was well worth it since it tried to reproduce the REST accurately...

Now that I'm old and finicky, I want my high fidelity AND my eye candy..

Is any type of graphical overhaul on the priority development list for AH presently?

Thanks
Jagr

Jagr, I've been wondering the same thing.  Currently, the graphics allow for a large community (Min. 333 Mhz) so I'm guessing they'll limit their membership if they go too far on graphics (shrugs)

Now that I upgraded recently, bring on the graphics!(Ain't I a selfish squeak? :D )

You are not the only one whose upgraded either...  the "generic" computer guy..middle of the road type system is 3 times the minimum requirements currently...  thats a LOT of potential graphics improvemens with no real impact on the game clientel..

There was a thread a while back in the Gen Discussion forum titled "Graphics"...

Maybe 2 or 3 weeks old.

I wouldn't say this "the "generic" computer guy..middle of the road type system is 3 times the minimum requirements currently... thats a LOT of potential graphics improvemens with no real impact on the game clientel.." tho, considering most generic computers have quite some horsepower (PIII 800 or so)...

while the video cards range from Riva TNTs to el crappio Intel chipsets.

GF2s (and non-MX at that, those don't even count as real GF2s) are the a-typical video card in the average computer.

Would like to see a 'detail settings' toggle in the setup.
So we can mathc the graphics with the performance capabilities
of our puter

There was a recent interview with Hitech on Wargamer where he said they are thinking of doing a graphics overhaul next year.
