I re-upped for a new account and was trying out my new monitor. Looked like the Rooks was sucking wind in the se corner of isles & trying to take back 17. So I up in a heavy 51D to help out. When I get to 17 the town's down and there's a little Napoleon shouting out orders on range channel, one of which is "Don't hit the base!!", since he obvious had visions of going for 18 and he'd need fighter capability. Well, I had these bombs, see, and there was still two FH up, so I figures, "What the hey, I'll just drop em on one!" So I do. And little Napoleon (I didn't bother to look to see who it was talking) yells "Lager, I said don't hit the base!!!". So I, of course, wing over and unload the rockets into the same hangar. That's when he uttered the words with which I started this tome. Now, as luck would have it I didn't have a mic connected so I had to settle for a wise comment on country channel. If I had vox I would have keyed up and given a really in-depth accounting of my hearing and mental accuity. About 5 minutes worth. I picked up a mic last night so, in future, any attempt to communicate with me the way the little Generallisimo did will bring sonic retribution.
In closing, let me say the most likely reason the Rooks have been outmanned so severely recently is probably that their Generals suck and have chased off the troops.

arfann, i think what the 'little Napoleon ' wanted was to take 17's base without damage to launch an attack on 18 from 17,
but i wasn't there, i was defending 22 from 100's of bishords, they came low they came high, they came in bombers an fighters an jabo's, i killed an was killed, heck of a night

Heh heh the other day some dweeb spent the whole day badmouthing the Rooks (anyone who was there should recall who I mean), callung us as a team stupid, moronic, various more colorful terms, accusing us of being stupid scoremongers, you get the point. Not just for a few minutes, he literally kept it up ALL DAY.
So eventually I decided to see how much of a "Team player" he really was by "helping him" with the planes he attacked. It didn't take long fo him to show his true colors....after he ropes a Zeke and I blow it out of the air for him, he INSTANTLY starts badmouthing me (A true team player would have been happy that the con was dead regardless of who got the kill).
Having shown his true colors to me, I decide to "help" him with a few more planes--and tell him exactly what I'm doing (deliberately trying to take his kills as retaliation for his being such a jerk). It doesn't take long to get him pretty angry, and soon he's calling me pretty much every name under the sun and spamming me with check-6's and such. Yeah it's a dirty job but someone had to do it.
Eventually I think he got the point and shut up, at which time I left him alone. I haven't seen him ranting since :)

If I even have the slightest doubt that the base capture isn’t going to happen, I’m porking the fuel and radar.
As for the napoleons out there, every country has them. As a matter of fact, I ran into one yesterday with knights. Kind of makes me wonder that if you’re spending your life online, maybe everyone else isn’t the problem.

Let me see if I understand this correctly.
Let's say a squad, like mine decides to set up a mission to raid, and take a field, and leave the hangars and fuel standing, for use on the next mission.
You're telling me just because you have ord. on board, you're going to screw up what 20 other people are trying to achieve just for your own milisecond of entertainment.
What the hell happened to common courtesy? I mean, it's your money, do what you want, but try and be respectful of what others are trying to do.

1. Amongst the tumult and shouting during the occasion I mentioned above it was made obvious that these folks had been at it for a couple of hours. Hardly an organized squad raid.
2. It only takes one fighter hangar to launch a continueing strike. There were 2 up.
3. Anyone who tries to launch an organized squad strike in the MaIn ArEnA is pi$$ing into the wind anyway, other than an unfun milk run on the pizza map.
4. What the hell happened to common courtesy? Do you request cooperation by shouting "Are you deaf, or just stupid?"

I rather like MAW raids. Either joining or tagging along; they're organized, disciplined, and generally fun to fly with. Shockingly enough, they piss into the wind pretty effectivly, too. I was flying around with the FBs last night, and had the same experience.

That's way over the top. I've found most people will respect the requests of mission planners when they're asked to preserve certain targets. It's not at all uncommon to hear the call not to poek fuel/ammo/troops/etc over fields, and while some people ignore them most seem to at leat make an effort.
Being the even tempered, tolerant, patient person I am if someone said that to me I'd go get a flight on lancs and pound the entire field flat.

Thanks for idea. Gonna switch to enemy and start shouting something like "HEY YOU IDIOTS! STOP KILLING THE BASE!". After that bases will be completely leveled before the capture. :)

put it this way, if we are taking a base and u pork the strats on it, then YOU better be prepaired to get ur donut in a supply goon
to resupply the base YOU porked.
killing fuel/ammo/troops is bad thing when ur trying to take a
base to use for further attacks. without goons/m3s resupplying it
, the base is down 2 hours for fuel/troops/ammo.

So there's something wrong with those 30-40 others that none of them are willing to supply the damaged base?
I can imagine why...most of the "generulz" would probably rather sit and scream for someone ELSE to resupply the base rather than do it themselves.
Heck, I might have to start carrying ordnance, just to pork more bases and make the "generulz" squeal even more.

I know how the game works.
3-5 guys pretending to CAP a base. one of em starts barking orders; "don't pork the fuel, we can use this base". niki's, spit's, la7's and 202's start uppin like crazy. someones squeaking for a goony. the 3-5 guys are all killed. and cause the hangars and fuel and barracks are not destroyed the baddy's march on over and attack the nearest base.
Like I said, if I am on an attack mission, I'm going to attack.

Hangars are only ever down for 15 minutes before they regenerate. If that helps to keep the enemies from thwarting any capture attempts, what is the problem? :confused:

Who cares about people bombing hangars? They come up quickly anyways. The annoying stuff is people who are busy killing all of the fuel while the troops are floating down over the town.
A hangar takes 15 minutes to rebuild.
According to the HTC website, fuel takes two hours.

why should the 1s who werent porking the fuel/ammo/troops because it was about to be captured, have to stop what thier doing just to fly a goon in cause some tard had to pork the strats.
when all it woulda took was for him to leave the strats stuff alone. JAB i run more resupply runs more then ull ever think about even trying.
Swager depending on the size of the base, small or large only have 2 barracks (1 town and 1 base) if they killed the town for troops, that leaves 1 barracks up (on field), u come along and wacked it, means NO troops at that base for 2 hours
without m3/goon resupply. and depending on nearest base
could mean a long flight for resupp runs, and it takes 4 goons to up damaged strats.
and both of u know if not for pilots like me and others willing to run supps while u wont step foot in a m3/goon for supply, yall would be flying from 25% fuel,, no ammo, no troop bases alll day long.

yes hangers down 15 mins, my missions we lettem hit the hangers but leave 1 of each up, so if we are gona run from that
base we can replane if needed.
fuel/ammo/troops are down 2 hours though without resupply.

I usually don't pork bases that my team is trying to capture. But after latest batch of whine threads, I'm now going to dedicate ALL my time to base porkage. Not just base porkage, but suicide base porkage. As long as I'M paying MY hard earned cash to play this game I will do whatever the hell I want with MY online time. And if you don't like, well there's really sweet fek all you can do about it isn't there. Except whine like a like a little baby, *boo hoo hoo*.

When I'm driving, I like to try and hit people. It's MY car, and MY gas, therefore I should be able to do whatever I want to with MY driving time!

my take on strat is that i usually yell... "who is the dumb bellybutton that killed the enemy cv?" Or.. "who is the pervert that killed the FH's but left the VH?"
The only fun thing about any gangbang is stealing the 1 kill from the dozen other team mates after it.

I take it back.. this whole thread is full of people that seem to want to lay blame on just one individual in this situation.
Two people being incredibly inconsiderate... complaining that the other was being incredibly inconsiderate... followed by a bunch of others somehow trying to justify one of their cases.

There's a simple solution to this.
At field capture everything at a field is destroyed by the country that loses the field. Everything is down and at max rebuild time.
The possibility to take fully operational fields is stupid.

If I arrive over a capped field, I usually hold my ord in the event the VH comes up, or the goon gets killed. Once it appears that capture is in serious doubt, I kill the barracks and fuel, to deny the enemy effecive use of the base. If one has hauled their ord a long way, just hit the bomber hangers, they're of minimal value right up on the "front".

Airfield objects (other than hangars) rebuild in 30 to 120 minutes, depending on the state of the factory and the city corresponding to that zone.
On the AKDesert map, there are multiple zones. Each zone has one airfield which controls factory/city ownership. If you own an airfield in a foreign zone, it always takes two hours for a field object to rebuild. If you go capture the zone field, then yep, 30-120 minutes will rebuild the object.
All other maps have a single zone.

Well how about this base capture players..
Having tagged along on a few nights to see how it's done, and finding it efficient but lacking in aircraft opposition for which the guns were installed on my fighter in the first place..
I promise that on those rare times when I hang thingys from the bottom of my aircraft I will obey the "man" in charge with that particular base capture. Even if it means I land with stuff still hanging there.
Doing that comes with a price capture players, and I will hold you to it....
If on checking the map for your next "conquest" you happen to see one of YOUR bases under an attack by a CV with 50 or 60 dots of different colors between the CV and the base ???
Please don't save us from THE BIG BAD CV by multiple jabo sucide runs.
WE HAVE the situation well in hand and would appreciate it if you went elsewhere for your "greater glory"
You consideration in this matter would be GREATLY appreciated...
And the next time I hang thingys on the bottom of my fighter I will repay the consideration..

Law is designed so that evil things are forbidden. But this design goal has never been fully met in history. There's always something evil that is not officially forbidden, and something that is forbidden, but not evil.

There's bombs on my 110 I figure I haul em to the base might as well use em. So I can get on with the real job of controlling the spitfire population. So I'll hit a FH, if I see goon and hes close I ll hit bomber hangers. That little wannabe air marshal barking out orders on range can bite me. It aint like porking fuels close to capture which actually is rather annoying.

Ok, true confession, when I started playing, I occasionally tried to be "the 'lil general" because it seemed to me that the side that was most organized won the game and had the most fun. I learned the hard way, that as a Rook, down that path lies ridicule and frustration. Especially given that I am one of the worst pilots in the game and probably always will be.
I joined a squad however, and now I try to work with my squaddies, I ask the more experienced ones if and where I should drop my ord. We respect each other, and try to work together to achieve common goals, and in so doing we have more fun. when they aren't on, I just generally pick a base under attack and try to defend.
The team effort thing just doesn't seem to work much at the Rook country level, but within squads (and sometimes within missions) it can and will.
Just a word of advice, don't expect much cooperation at the country level and you won't be disappointed, relax and pretend its an arcade game in those moments.

Well porkage isn't forbidden as there isn't any mechanism to prevent. We could assume that it is in fact part of the damn game. So I guess you are saying that dropping some bombs in a video game is "EVIL"!! LOL, sorry but I must do as my Lord Satan orders. And he orders me to pork nit fields.

It seems that he said there were 2 hangers.1 down doesnt matter.2 down DOES since the vulchers cant get there freebie kills and jack up there noodlees...er I mean scores.If I have ord.Im gonna break something.And believe me.SOMEthing will break.

From the perspective of a goon pilot: the goon has a much lower probability of reaching it's goal if you leave any hangers up. The CAP says it will protect the goon, but 90% of the time the nme attacker dies after the goon does. In my experience the base captures that have the highest success rate are those that are coordinated, quick, apply overwhelming force, and take out all the hangers. Trying to take a field while leaving the hangers up often leads to long, drawn out, and often futile, base capture attempts.

Move the war away from the fields!
Territory usually was not captured by dropping troops on airfields. Also, fighting at airfields creates a very unequal fight which is less fun than it could be.
(remove the towns from the airfields and move the maproom onto the field. add vehicle fields between the airfields with LARGE towns with houses made of stones (so bombs are required), between the fields, forward spawnpoints 1 minute drive from the airfields, etc...)

It all depends on situation. I usually ask pilots to get all fh/bh/vh at field, while leaving fuel/ammo/troops up. It gives em the good target for their load and keeps field strat objects up. FH's down only 15 minutes; considering that goons usually lags behind the mission and that mission planes can defend field for some time after the capture even if FH's down, it is a good compromise.
It is very few people who will keep killing field if you politely ask to stop. The are people who will keep doing it though. After all, it is their money, their time, and their game, they can do whatever they want. But sometimes killing fuel or troops at field is like farting in an elevator, sure, you can do it, but do not expect you will get much of respect from other 20 people who is with you :)

If you want to take a field, then take the field, hard and fast, no playing around. If the initial attempt takes more than about fifteen minutes or more, there is a better than even chance that all will be for nothing. Mind, that is on the edge of the timeframe, best results happen within five minutes.
We have all the tools at our disposal to get this job done, all that is needed is a modicum of forethought and planning, oh, and don't forget practice, practice and after that a trial run or two to get everyone in the mood.
As for the "Napoleons" out there, what you gonna do? Whether they're brilliant or couldn't plan up a decent orgasm, talking to people in that way won't inspire me to rally to them.
I've screwed up lots here, dropped on wrong targets, blah, blah, and I usually die in flames, but nobody ever talked to me in that way, usually die laughing, get a beer and try again. Hope it's just "one of those days"

Personaly I prefer NOT to hit fuel ammo et all.I primarily target VH ack FH in that order.If the grab is getting out of hand and wont be taken anytime soon, I would rather take the hangers down.I will level fuel if a base is putting heat on one of ours,but to cripple yourself on fuel on a base take isnt gonna help much.Then again Im not gonna chew someones bellybutton over it if they do kill it.

Funny this thread is here today.. Yesterday afternoon, I joined a raid in a heavy F4. Base is half flattened, waiting for goons. There's this one guy (OSPINO? or sumptin' like that),, and he's wailing away at the buildings! The CV is right off-shore, and he's ferrying bombs out to the field like crazy!
The VOX dudes,, firstly asked politely for him to stop,, then they explained in great length the ill-logic of his actions,, (no reply),, then they type out long winded diatribes re; the same stuff.. Then the vulgarity & physical threats started.. (STILL, no reply,, he just keeps bombing & bombing, and when there were no buildings left, he bombed the runways,, making smiley faces with craters!! MOOhahahahaaa!!
Oh yeah,, AND THEN,, I think someone from my country radios on the OPEN CHANNEL,, "Hey, I see a C47 just west of A5 at 1000 ft!"
BOY, were those guys PISS'T!!
I flew out to the CV & augered, all bombs intact.. fearing the angry mob may somehow reach through my ISP Cable, and choke me by accident.. :eek:

...so you guys feel that you're entitled to spend your $14.95 as you please, even though (as whels has pointed out) you might be ruining the gameplay for 30-40 others who have also paid $14.95. Ah, Teamwork! :aok This thread appeared some time before the current wave of fuel porkery had reached its height... Nice one, Zipp. How do you reconcile this with your later stance from March of this year, which was "Getting really tired of the “be the steamroller or be rolled”, no one wants to fight anymore."? Seems like you lent a sympathetic ear to the "no-holds-barred-because-it's-my-$14.95" movement led by Arfann in this thread, but when you found that YOUR gameplay was being affected by people spending their $14.95 the way they want to spend it, well that just won't do, now will it?

Don't pork this base means to me...I wanna vulch this place until that goon that is going to be up in say..10 minutes , when he is done vulching and flys back and lands his kills..then ups the goon. I have heard that lil saying on MORE than one occasion. Mean while like was said earlier..they up like crazy..Guys fly off that were capping or die trying for that last vulch....and the whole thing ends up costing the very base you were attacking from.
If your gonna land grab...Best to kill the hangars IMHO. Fuel and other strats..maybe to slow down the counter attack that WILLL come if you leave the hangars up.

Hehe, good point Beet1e. It really all depends who's pie is being poked at the time. (Ala "American Pie")
This is why I stick with my squad and pretty much ignore everywhere else. We are all on the same page (usually). If players go to the big fights, it's a free for all, expect it. As for missions, I usually only sign up for the FB missions, they are pretty well organized.
As far as flattening the FH's go, I believe in killing 'em all if you really want the base, especially if you are on a land grab march. If you got 20 or 30 guys with you, just hotpad and go on. The FH's come back up pretty quick. No reason to get all upset.

I remember Wax and I were over a base once in tiffys. I dont remember who, but one of us killed those "structures" that sit on the outer edge of the feild. We got yelled at by one of those Generals.
hehe Big mistake. Those little structures getting destroyed that ment nothing to the base, turned into every single fuel tank, ammo bunker, radar, and barracks being blown to bits by 8 really ticked off 20mm's.

Skuzzy - My fault. I rediscovered this thread after two years, and saw some things in there that seemed out of context with the AH of 2004. In particular, I was taken aback by the attitude of some, who cared only about their own $14.95 worth - and to hell with everyone else.
But later, when the game has become overrun with fuel porkers etc., we see some of those SAME people lamenting the gameplay, and even suggesting elite arenas.
And you know me, Skuzzy! I'm fond of my "what's sauce for the goose is sauce for the gander" rebuttals. :aok

We're an international community trying to have some fun online in AH, I just don't think it's appropriate to go there. Hey handsomehunk, a little background for you: I paid my way through college. Among the jobs I had was: Being lowered into a railraod tanker by an electrostatic cable( there was a small danger of spark/explosion) to scrape flour residue off the inside of flour cars. This was done before sunrise and was outside. By the way, I went to school in Minnesota which means being outside before sunrise in Minnesota 5 days a week during the school year. You know, November, December, January, February... etc. I doubt you have ever experienced such cold for so long. It was a two man job but I almost always did it alone. The second person rarely came back after the first day in winter(some even slipped away at lunch the first day) before quitting but I needed the money and worked hard enough that they just paid me both salaries( I think it was $12.00/hour or so)
After I would finish scraping the cars, I would drive home and take a long hot shower to warm up and to pick clumps of flour out of every crack and crevice in my body. Then I'd go to class.
Opportunities? I made them myself.
Taken it for granted? You couldn't be more wrong. I busted my asss to pay for college, earned it.

Morph - I wasn't accusing you. You've not been registered on this board very long. If you had been around here in 2002/2003, you would know exactly what I meant. There were many country bashing threads - particularly against the French. One Frenchman even quit the board and the game itself because he could no longer deal with the chastisement being meted out by people on this board on account of his government's stance on Iraq.

Find where I recently want this done and also find where I want to dictate how someone plays the game.
