Title: Most Humble Guys/Gals in AH
Post by: Seagoon on September 20, 2002, 09:25:51 PM
Ok, I just finished reading through a couple of pages of the highly unedifying "Biggest Egos in AH" thread. When I finally got tired of the mud slinging, it occurred to me that while we have seen that kind of "who's the biggest jerk" search over and over again, we rarely see a "Who deserves a medal for his/her constant humility, good sportmanship, pleasant attitude, willingness to help the noobs, friendly humor etc."

Now while there are plenty of nice players out there, I'm talking about the really good eggs who make the game a better place and who would be an asset to any squad. Since these guys and gals aren't always the best players, to my mind they don't always get enough thanks and encouragement from the community.

I have several nominations in mind, but I'll hold off making them till the guys who have been around for longer and might know the individuals in question better have time to post.

So who would you nominate?

He is always willing to help anyone on anything!

I agree with Swagger.  Daddog is the kindest, gentlest guy on here and doesn't have an ounce of ego to be dented if/when he's ever shot down.  And, he does a lot for this community working on the Special Events team.

Ahhh... Dago, I remember in the WB islands terrain one fine jet day; I had a B-25 on the IP to f14.  Here comes this 262; he sets up dead 6 -- I man the tail gun -- he shoots, a WB 2x30 mm round hits my wing, I spin in, but not before shooting his tail off.  I send him a note, noting my amazement at his poor use a wuender weapon.

-YOU HAVE BEEN SQUELCHED-

Just a thought from three years ago to let you know I still think of you Dago ;)

Blitz, Ecke, Wardog, Soulyss (cough), Hajo... only to name a few.
There are lots actually, you just won't hear them much... even when they hand you your own @rse  :)

One day for no good reason, Blitz bit me in the arse for saying something neutrally like "that tactic will probably fail for that reason".
He quickly replied on range:
"Shut up moot, you moron"
What ate him that day? He's a very nice guy, older than me which I respect like Ripsnot for example; I was surprised from previous vox and flying near him, and guessed he did not know I was that regularly flying near him.

theres a bunch of guys (gals).  Hard to mention all of them because they are pretty quiet.  I would say many of my squaddies fit that  description. Nomde, sancho, RGJ, Oblittoo.  Then fariz certainly stands out on my list.  Lazs, cuckoo, etc...

too hard to name them all.

I used to like Hblair, then he shot down all three of my Lancasters last night.

Wasn't hardly fair, either.  Generally I can handle one stEEnking 109.  He probably cheated  :D

Oh Boy...

Figured we wouldn't be able to play nice even on this thread.
Well guys, here are a few of nominations:

FLOSSY - First encountered her in the AW days, a genuine good egg, and highly helpful, especially considering the stress of being one of the few female types in the online flying community.
JORDI - Another one of the incredibly helpful yet unassuming guys.
TSORDE - Ok, he's a squadie of mine, but another one of the truely meek, modest, and helpful guys in the arena. I've never seen him blow his top, flame people, or engage in unsportsmanlike behavior.

- SEAGOON

Oh my goodness... thanks, Seagoon, I am extremely flattered...  :)  I do enjoy helping people, and if it makes their game more pleasurable, then I am happy.  As for being one of few females.... I've always loved the fact that I am!  ;)

Imagine that, after you shoot someone down, and decide being the brilliant fellow you are, you should start handing out unrequested comments deriding someone elses tactics, you got squelched. Go figure.

Doesnt necessarily make me less humble, but means I dont care to listen to unwanted comments.  My post about being humble in this thread was a joke and most would recognize it as such.

Over the years, I have killed many players who did something I thought was unwise, I dont know that even once did I try to then lecture someone about it.  Everyone makes mistakes, and most learn from them all by themselves.  :)

BTW, I loved the squelch command in WB. Means I didnt have to listen to the rif-raf.

I can Second  Flossy and Jordi as being outstanding member of the comunity...

Lets see if I can toss out a few others....

Leaders that command my utmost respect...
GhostDancer
BFD  (dawg)
FTSeeker
DEMAN
APDRONE
Stink
Wild
Hammer
Krusher

All of the above work well and treat others well, They help as needed and normaly preform beyond the call of duty.  I seldom see them flame anyone and do everything they can to bring honor to themselves and there squads.

The Entire CM team is contributing a huge emount to this comunity often with little personal recognition.   Tilt and Aub deserve special mention here too.

Some Guys that deserve a nod for just plain being Good Eggs in the arena that I encounter regularly.

Papa4
Chooch
BUSH  (nobody says hello to you with as much entusiasim)

Another couple of guys I know from Scenarios that have been great to work with
Kisters
Lizard3
MAG1C

Another person that has been a real help to me over the years, but presently isnt flying, is Dawn.   I hope one day you all get the pleasure of getting to know her, she is a huge asset to any comunity.

Oh yeah... Every member of the CAF too ;)

There are others too, they just are not popping into my my poor excuse for a brain right now.   Those above all deserve recognition for being great members of the AH Comunity.

Thank to you all for everything you do.

Well I'd have to say swager is a pretty mellow gent, hearing him on voice is like hearing someone on valium.  'cept he's really posessive when when it comes to his pink tutu won't let anyone touch it unless he's in it.

Hehe, thanks for the nod Grimm, but I think, by definition, you have to have something to be humble about before you can actually BE humble.  Since I'm still pretty stinko at this Sim, I'd call myself appropriately quiet :).  I'd like to tell you I'll get better, but I'm just a tired old man, and can't throw myself into this Sim like I did AW back in the day ;).

I do VERY much enjoy the Community that has built up around Aces High, and love to fly around and shoot the chit.  I've become what I like to call a 'Social Flyer', trying to carry on as many conversations as I can without getting my tail shot off.  I don't care much about my K/D, but I do track my H/D (Hiyas per Death).

BTW, Grimm certainly fits the humble definition, quietly going around behind the scenes organizing and running some of the great events we love to participate ... Thanks Grimm ... can't wait for Midway!

Cya Up!

Definately at the top of my list are these fine folks...

 Flossy...
"The peace keeper"

 Jordi
"The encourager"

 KOOL
"The Motivator" ( ok he's a squaddie but I love his style)

 Silat
"The Greeter"

 GhostDancer
"The Organizer"

 Leftfoot
"The always Helpful"

Many more but I can't recall their names right now...
We have a great group of Peeps in this game...

Salute

Not only the greeter.

When i first came in and I didn't know how to use the controls or anything..instead of Silat telling me to go read the manual he musta took a couple hours of his time getting me setup with my views and such and navigation just so I could play.

and for several days after that I could always shoot a private "how do I do this?" and he's always help me immediately.

and he was never sarcastic or mean about it or anything just entirely selflessly helpful.

I'd never forget that =)

and also one more who doesn't fly right now.

GE

when I went to my first con, Icouldn't find any computer that had my rig on them that I could fly on so I was mostly standing around watching tillI found GE's machine..he didn't know me from adam but let me monopolize his machine nearly the whole con with no problem at all.

I won't forget that either.

to you both =)

I'm lucky to be in your squad =)

As far as easy going/humble folks flying AH…. Daddog, TeeRex and (insert your name here… if you earned it).

Be quiet Urchin and Puck. :)

Drex has got to be the most humble guy in AH. He gets a lot of praise from people he doesn't even know. Some may have only fought against him one time and declare him to be the "best of the best". That'd go to most guys heads. But it doesn't drex's. You can shoot him down and he'll private you and say "nice shot". That's rare around here.

Hblair? Sheez, he's a flamin egomaniac. You should hear him on Voice..."Set up that kill you tard!" "No apple, I told you to drag him HIGH" etc., etc., ad nauseum. :)

OK, I made that up. All he has to do is let slip an "awe mayun" and all us Assassins hang our heads.

Thanks for the mention Grimm, and right back at ya, but I dont have much to be humble about. I do try to help the occasional new flyer, but alas my downfall is my temper and my mouth. Thankfully it usually only manifests itself on this here Ubb.

Which brings us to...This is a good topic, but I think it will only stir up more trouble as some people will feel the necessity to knock down those who've been lifted up. I know I'm fighting a few urges here myself.

So...just so I can be the first, STFU....or not.

Thanks Ammo, I can say same about you, and many, many good guys in AH. all, your patience and good attitude makes this game an especially good expirience.

I think my huge ago actually do not let me to be in this list, but I will try to get close. Next time Mitsu kills me, I promise I will not kill him a damn dirty cheater :) At least not at channel 1. And this time I will not do it during 1 hour, 10 minutes may be enough :)

Three or four people I respect who I think are humble.

Tango
BlackSheep
FsCage
CPR

These gentlemen are what makes the game enjoyable.  Gentlemen like Tango and Cage, who are friends outside the game, who send emails and check in.  These guys just send email just to say Hey, hows it going.  Or guys like CPR, who always chuckles at my lamest of lame jokes, and continues to fly my wing even though I have commited the retardest of retarded moves.

And then there are gentlemen like Blacksheep who offered his house and mad 1 pound hamburger cooking skills to a bunch of dorks.  Then showed us white skined pasty boys how to party in Nashville's hottest and possibily sluttyest dance clubs.  And what was cool about it, his wife didnt care....Nice wife!

To these Gentlemen, Bud Light salutes...err oops....:D

To these Gentlemen, I salute you.  Thank you for being a true Gentlemen, and a True Friend.
