We really need perked items of less than 20 pts so that newbies and those just plain incompetent (like me) can get an occasional lift.
-
chog it.
or simply fly a high (low?) eny plane like the niki, spit9, pony or la7 and pretend it costs you 5 perkies.
:p
-
Think all perk plane except 262 and maybe tempest should be lowered.
The idea of the perk system is to limit planes, not to completely remove them (like some are, ta152, f4u4, spit 14).
Lower the perks, the planes will be flown and the adding of them haven't been in vane.
-
heh, if the f4u4 cost 10perks, I still wouldnt fly it. The gangbang tags make them un-fun to fly.
Change the tags and the prices are much less important.
-
The tags are no problem at all. People who get shot down in them blame the tags instead of their own mistakes. The tag is a red herring.

Heh heh they already DO cost perks if you kill stuff with them (witness how many points you get for killing 5 average MA planes with a P-51D as opposed to a F4U-1).

Do you need points before ya can fly a plane?
I wonder how I ever have flown a plane...
never had any points when I was a newb
-
Perk the La7 and NiK2 at 3-4 perks each, they couldn't possibly be hunted anymore than they are now
-
Nah the 152 in AH is just... toejamty. I have no problem with the tag or with that it's perked just.... porked. :D
-
Very rarely do I drive a perked plane. Probably once or twice a tour, and I almost always get shot down in it. I actually like the fact that the tags are there. It makes me very happy to have a horde of ravenous, perk-starved score-mongers chasing me all over the place while they completely ignore the troops running into the map room. :D

You mean to tell me you'd pass up an F4U-4 for an F4U-1 if you had a chance to kill one or the other given equal situations?
I'm not buying it.
Now multiply your answer by 3,5,10...and add to that the chatter about a perked ride in the area.
I fly the F4U-4 and I get a lot more attention than I do in any other hog.
-
Low value perks would just prevent fewer people from flying the more expensive planes. The system is not bad now. If you fly P51, La-7 or N1K, you get jack for perks for the kills you bring home. That's punishment enough for flying those planes.
Personally, what I fly today depends on the mood I'm in or the current situation. I tend to target what I have the best chance of killing. If my target happens to have a perk tag on it so be it, it's his/her mistake to allow me to get that shot in. Is it smart to give up your shot on a low Hurricane to chase a Tempest or a 262 that you don't have a shot on?
Half the fun of flying a perk plane is to have everyone chase you. That has to be expected it can also be advantageous as mentioned in earlier posts.

I'm not complaining, if someone wants to dance with a F4U-4 or C-Hog, and fight it like they would a Hog-1 or Hog-D, so be it :)
I do need to be more selective in my fights, however...and it would be a far better arena if all planes were perked to a certain value. Furballs aren't any fun, no skills are learned, and people would pay better attention to SA, FWIW.
There should be a steeper penalty for dying, in any sortie.
PS. My pain killers are wearin off, so if I seem a little nasty...deal with it
:D
