I have win 98 and am using IE5.5 now. I have a problem in trying to bring up a second window. It won't open unles I stop it and hit refresh. Anyone have an idea why this is doing it? BTW I droppedIE6 because it did same thing. I figured 5.5 USED to work well so after formatting HD a couple weeks ago I dloaded 5.5 instead.

Uninstall what? IE or windows? erree ok I did that. No change. :(
I know it's a problem with my machine. Perhaps I should review the security options. I have the thing turned way up on security and I am not sure java is fully enabled. Maybe that has something to do with it. sigh.

Mav, I don't have an answer to your problem. I was having all kinds of probs myself with Win98 SE and IE 5xx and 6.
4 weeks ago I upgraded to Windows XP Home. Wow, is all I can say. What a nice, trouble free and smooth system. Check it out if you can.

i have only one thing to say,get this and stop worrying :)
http://gwbn.onlinedown.net/down/touchnetsetup.exe
This browser has built in popup control, translation, ability to unclose a window, inbuilt anon proxy browsing, etc etc,i've been using it for 2 months and find IE extremely irritating to use now.
PS,why do you have your security turned right up?,if you have a good firewall and virus protection, you shoul be able to run on "medium" with no worries :)
PPS,serial number is available if you do a little searching around :),but if you like it,buy it! :)

Heh, yep that is a crazyproblem. Believe it or not, that 2nd window problem has to do with a dll that robohelp installs. This is help software used in many products. I'm in QC at a software company, and I've seen this before. It's gross, and it's not really an IE problem. Try ripping out IE and putting IE6 back in there, but I'm not sure that will fix it. I fixed it on our machines by installing a later version of the product we were testing that fixed the issue.
