Actually, now that you mention it, it is a bit nicer. Though I must admit, I still don't run after many fighters much. It is nice to be able to disengage easier now. I just have to keep myself from becoming like Forest Gump: a running fool.

190 dont run any more they just auger in when the see that they dont have the alt adv any more. I saddled 5 (yes i said 5) 190's up today and they all purposely augered. If this is what the game is comming to it is comming to an end for me.

As a Spit driver I have definately noticed that the arena has sped up since the release of 1.06. This is actually quite frusterating.
I DID have fun chasing down and killing and F4U-1C while flying an La7 though. That isn't someting we Spit drivers get to experience.

It's weird; had a really good start with Dora, then i started sucking bigtime.
Then went with A5, was good for a while, started sucking.
Now, I started good with 109G10, so I guess g2 is next (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/biggrin.gif)

Since the release of 1.06 I fly only and only La-7. What a great plane. Anything below 6 k is easy meat if they think they can run away. Specially first days of the release (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/biggrin.gif) I wish I just could see the eyes of pony pilots who have tried to escape by running and ended up with their tail being removed. So far only Dora had ability to run for more than 1.7 squares (about 40 miles or so) but with the same result - dead (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/smile.gif). And yes Tempest gave me a hard time - but a little E solved the problem also.
Personaly I do enjoy the speed of La7 very much. Very much. Very very very much (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/smile.gif)

Same thing here, Santa. Started w/La-7 did fine. Then sucked. Then D-9. Then sucked. Then A-5. Then sucked. Best flight I had all weekend was in a damn Zero - even killed a Pz IV in it.
The only thing I can think of to cause this is that when you switch rides, you start paying attention to what you're doing again.

You should fly the 190a8 until you get your mojo working again - then fly the other LW birds.

The damn Doras wont stay and fight, they dont even press their attacks all you gotta do is roll out of their way and they disengage and they climb back up till they out of icon range- rather embarrasing for such a fine plane to get flown so weakly. Ive only been able run down one of them so far. La7s are pretty good tho they will stay and fight. Please stay and fight Dora pilots please its a fine plane, give her a good workout.

Dora was the answer to my prayers.
I flew 190a8 almost exclusively with 2x20mm 50%fuel +DT and did pretty well with it, but always its poor climb made it prone to getting bounced and it needs alt to exhange for energy in dogfight but it still had surprises up its sleeve (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/tongue.gif)
NOW i have that roll rate with speed and climb i have become almost EVIL (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/biggrin.gif).
i think i have 103 kills 39 deaths which aint bad, and La7's are no match (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/smile.gif) i have 14 kills to 1 , dora vs la7.
and NIKI's finally get what they deserve :

Chased down two P-51Ds in my La7, and caught them. Really is a nice change. When flying the La5FN you had to be careful, because it is very hard to disengage from late war stuff. That also made it difficult to chase planes like a 51. I had many a fight in a La5FN that I won position against a 51 only to see them disengage at will. Not anymore. I haven't seen too many Ponies this tour after Dora came out but I have fought with two and they both died altough they were piloted by some hapless rooks which makes those kills less valuable...
It's nice to have speed!

What Grunherz said. What he said is what I've seen most D9's do and it's pathetic. Much worse than anything I saw 51 pilots ever do here. Reminds me of what people were complaining was occuring in AW the last couple of years. I wonder if new blood have brought those lame habits? Me and a couple of squaddies ran into about six of them flking over 20K near over one of thier bases in the lower left of the map. They had alt (we were 15k-20k tops), they blew it badly, lost a couple of thier number, the last two or three ran south further into friendly teritory and either alt F4'd or bailed because they never came back.

I would love to see some way to introduce the early war planes.

I cant think of anything better than a rolling plane set to allow this.
Although perks are still young in development I just cant see that system allowing 1939-1942, 1942-1943, 1944-1945 planes to intermix.
Is there any other way? Because if not, AH will simply be game a forced by simple common sense to use only the latest and greatest 1944-45 technology.

The other nice thing about early war planes: slower planes warp less!
There's actually enough non-uber planes here to make a nice mid-war set work: 190A5, 109F4, Spit V, Seafire, Avenger, Ju-88, A6M5, C202, C205, F6F, P51B, P47C. Corsair is too uber for this mix. Spit IX kinda the same. Might make for a nice change of pace for the first few nights of a new campaign?

Let me clarify my earlier post:
I don't run much unless I am at a serious disadvantage, though I do more than I did previously. I only run/disengage when I am low on gas, ammo, or am outnumbered (and even then, I often turn and fight). I don't run from any specific plane because with the D-9, I feel like I have a fighting chance against every plane in the arena. I am starting to fly a bit smarter, meaning that my K/D ratio is climbing. In the D-9, there are no planes that I won't engage, however, there are situations that I will alter my method of fighting.
For example, last night, I ran from Niki's when I was caught low. They turn better and have guns that make it easy for a snapshot to kill me. Therefore, I would run to get seperation and then turn to reengage. I don't run back to base unless I feel like it is the only option left for me. However, I will fight any Niki I see at around 15k+. Up there, I know that I can turn and climb with them and probably better thant them in most instances. They don't scare me as much as they did when I was flying the hog and cat exclusively.
Do I run? Of course I do. I don't want to push a bad situation. Do I run as much as everyone else? I don't know, I don't worry about what everyone else does.
All I really know is that I am finally glad that my fav LW plane has been added and it matches the way that I fly and fight.

I seem to be chasing everything these days except the La7...fortunetly, not many know how to fly it yet, which is a good thing for this Pony driver (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/smile.gif)
Interesting how the introduction of new planes changes the dynamic. I can't help but think that a RPS would add even more fun for us all...I fly only the 51 as does the entire 13th TAS, however, we would enjoy an RPS, we would just all fly the same plane.
