Title: Pearl Harbor trailer...
Post by: Mathman on February 17, 2001, 10:14:00 AM
I don't know if anyone has seen this, but there is a new trailer for Pearl Harbor.  I would post it as a link, but I don't know how.  Here is the address:

It really is starting to look very interesting.  Looks like Anthony Hopkins is playing FDR.

p.s. I wasn't sure if this should go in here or O club.  If it is wrong, sorry  (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/smile.gif)

Yes you did see the Doolittle Raid.  In fact, they filmed part of this movie in Corpus Christi TX...home port of the USS Lexington.  I was there a few months ago after they did all the filming there and the gentleman in the museum library on board the ship told me that they actually flew several B-25's off the deck of the Lexington to shoot some scenes for the movie.  Incidentally, the Lady Lex also played the role of a Japanese carrier in the film also.  They fixed her up to look like a Japanese carrier and flew a few Zeros off the deck.  Man I wish I could have been there for the filming.   (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/smile.gif)

I watched some of the filming. They did 3 days worth of shooting about a block away from my house. It was nice to watch the P-40s and "Zeros" play around. One of the Vals they had managed to clip a palm tree and was pretty much totaled. Turns out the pilot was a woman <G>. The Zeros were mock-ups, not real A6Ms.

A Band of Brothers looks excellent too.

I think it is a 10 part series on the 101st Airborne in WWII.  Tom Hanks directed a few of them.  I think they are due to release this fall.
