Title: Just when you think you see is all...
Post by: texace on September 24, 2002, 09:34:39 PM
Interesting fact that I learned today about my school and home town.

Seems that Lake Worth is the largest man made lake in Texas (or at least it was) and is the thrid largest man made lake in the US. I found that interesting...but that's just me. ;)

And this just in from school reports. I read today that out of the 300 or so females in the high school (out of about 550 students), 153 are pregnant, and 52 have been released in the past week for materinty leave (or whatever). I found that interesting as well.

Sorry...boring day...

That's what happens when you have this giant lake for the kids to go "swim" in.

A 50% pregnancy rate?  Come on, we don't actually believe that, do we?

I want some evidence here...

50%  ???  That I really find hard to believe. My wife is a school Nurse in the neighboring District and the average in High Schools here run about 5%  there have been peaks of almost 10% in some schools. The sad unlisted statistic is the number of Middle School girls who show up pregnant.

Ah the result of using scare tactics to prevent the young ones from porking...

Its a wonder we dont simply educate them about sex.

50% seems a bit high tho... this a scare tactic as well?

I was down there in August.  Why do you think the pregnancy rate is so high?

I'm being serious. The school must keep doctor's records in order to validate absences. Being an office aide and having access to these files when the desk clerk asks me to file something, I have had a chance to count the number of notes referring to pregnacy. OK, so 153 might have been an exageration, but the actual number is around 100 or so.

The reason for this is is because our school is situated in a town where parents are extreamly lax in their duties as parents. Most of the students who attend the school live with other relatives. I dunno if anyone read, but a year or so ago one of my friends' father shot his wife and himself. Adults in this area barely know how to control themselves.

Another reason is an underworked police department. I can go to the local hangout (Inparation Point) at around midnight and see eight or nine cars up there. The park there closes at 10, and the cops should enforce it...but they don't.

Hey...so I got bored and went looking...this is what I get.

Hey Tex, just moved up to your neck of the woods. I work over at Lockheed by Lake Worth. From what I hear, it's not even very deep. You can hit something if your not looking where your boating. Like that family a couple of nights ago. "Hey,we got a boat. Let's all hop in and see the lake at midnight. We'er not over loaded. Let's just go." End result. Boat hit something in the lake, 3 family members dead. A mind is a terrible thing to waste.
