Yesterday, I returned home from a short trip to Italy. (You can read about it here (http://www.hitechcreations.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=65269)). I had been looking forward to a nice absorbing read of the AH bulletin board posts, but what do I find? The same old whines. :( It took me as long to read the board as to read the Sun newspaper – about 1½ minutes.
I blame HTC. :D You see the problem is that they’ve delivered us an excellent game, and it really does perform jolly well. :) Everything works as it should, although like any game in which things are changing, problems sometimes arise which need attention. The connections are currently being reviewed, but I am fully confident that everything will work swimmingly in the fullness of time. And that’s the problem. We don’t have enough new whining material. And a BBS is a natural whining forum. The result is that the AH BBS is turning into a Whine Recycling Centre.
We get people complaining about this realism, that flight model, this gun, that bomb, the map sucks, Bishops suck, TCP/UDP, unplayable, warps, waah-waah-waah-waah-waah.
So, to paraphrase Billy Chrystal in ”Analyze This”, I say who cares if the rooks are always being reset when you log on? Why whine when you can’t log on at 1:20 Eastern? Didn’t you know about the .squelch command to silence people you don’t like? Waah-waah-waah, this server doesn’t work... :( waah-waah I can’t find any fights on the pizza map. :( Waah AH is unrealistic etc.... Do us all a favour: Talk to someone who gives a toejam, pull yourself together and get a diddlying life!

I give it a 6. Lots of passion, but the subject matter is moldy. Whining about whines lacks originality.

I completely agree with Beet1e. I try hard these days to find a well-reasoned, well-composed post with an actual interesting message. When I am that lucky I end up reading a bunch of inane responses like Puck's: nothing really to add or contribute, just another "Hey! Look what I can do!" waste of bandwidth.
UUBs across the net are suffering from this syndrome - poorly thought-out posts, ill-conceived replies, and schoolyard-istic approaches to communicating with each other. I would like to say that it was better in the good ole days but, in all honesty, it's always been a question of the degree of boorishness rather than a level of civility.
Have you ever been to a party having a good conversation when the drunken bellybutton with the lampshade stumbles in an starts spouting tripe? What if that bellybutton had the time to stumble into and ruin every good conversation at the same party? That's the board these days.

darn right beetle...right now theres more posts onb the off topic board with actual content than on the general. everything else is just a whine cept for the hth forums and thats just people either complaining about those darn vulchers and stating there ban lists for there rooms.
btw why dont you start a post with content and see how long before it turns into a flame war?

I would have subtracted a point because he used the terms "jolly well", "swimmingly", and "fullness of time", but I added that point back because he used the term "Whine" and not "Whinge". :D

Actually we have a shortcut for these kind of "Me too" posts. The syntax is:
[Short Quoted Text]
This indicates your agreement with the Quoted Text. Procedurally, the Quoted Text should be as short as possible.

Heck, there’ll be more descent in the ranks if HTC was selling one for the price of three and putting a freeze on production. (Don’t ask. don’t tell policy in effect)
