This is the section of the new "Yakolev's Piston Engined Fighters" book by Gordon & Khazanov, concerning the Yak-9UT
It doesn't bring any new ground breaking information, but it does consolidate some info, that was brought together from different places and posted here before.
I was going to type it all in, but got lazy :p So sue me!! Its only 65k

So no 107 powered Yak 9 during the war. What about a Yak3?

Ummm thats not what it says.
But no, the large majority of Yak3's were powered with the 105PF. A very small number of Yak3's with the VK107 were produced (one source says 100), but almost the entire VK107 production was earmarked for the Yak-9U program.
