Anyone here from fighter ace. I used to be VAC_Storm.

YOYO,
yes about 2yrs ago
-
long time ago. i used to be eagle125fw, TEA_Wileycoyote
WhileyCoyote....lots of other names.
you ever fly with VAC_famine_4H? i knew that guy.
-
HT,
In a bit less than 6 months I'll have my A&P. We can talk about working out a deal on maintenance. ;) Since you didn't build that lil bomb you'll still have to rely on an A&P for the upkep outside of owners preventative maint. I can school you on that as well. :)

Used to be LJK_Six and LJK_Reschke over there as well as SAS_Six back when I first found out about FA2. I was a "beta tester" for both M$ and VR-1 on FA3. Nothing about either version made me want to return to the FA skies for anything other than 1-2 weeks just to keep up with old buddies.
-
Yup! I used to be TS_Beegerite in FA2 till I came to AH 2 1/2 years ago.

Joe, VAC_Famine_4h recruited me. He was the first person I met in fighter ace. He is a great guy, very helpful and polite. Also one of the better pilots in fighter ace. Tried to get fa squad to try aces high but they said it was too difficult. Aces high is the real deal, i'll sacrifice graphics for better game play. The events and community are exellent here also. The terrain editor allows for endless maps to be created. Can't wait for midway map:D

Many moons ago I was PG_brady.
-
TEA_Wileycoyote? Hehehehe.......no comment. If you see PepeLePew, tell him to stop unplugging his modem cord, I won't shoot him down anymore.
-
Any BANZAI squad here? They would love the pacific events. They would miss the frank & kate 8-(
Bring the frank!(Ki-84?)
Bring the kate!(model?)
-
I flew 2.0 beta and gold version .
air_spro of the air_squadron

Yes Sixpence there are Banzai here. I was _BANZAI_Toryu, Naudet was here until recently, and Yuto makes an appearance in H2H every now and then so I'm told. A few others have tried AH but most of the crew seems to be content with FA3, though I can't understand why...I found it quite disappointing myself. Oh well, to each his own I guess. *shrug*
And yes, Frankenstein would be a welcome addition along with the Ki-100, Ki-44, J2M, and a few others. :)
-
Yeah, I was in there.

I rember most of you, I to realy miss the Frank, and those UBER 30mm canons, but snice they were not realy used on a Frank I doubt we will see them in AH.
One thing abot FA as messed up as the plane modeling is/was they do have realy full plane set for each country.
-
Know what I think? Gonna tell you anyway. A general rule of thumb is the lower number of planes in the set, the more I am likely to believe that there has been some effort to actually recreate a realistic plane model. Why? Because the amount of programming required to actually recreate the full dynamics of the flight envelope would take a budget equal to NASA's. After 6 years rattling around these sims on top of 4K real flight hours I'm convinced that the only thing we can hope for is an overall impression of flight. What really amazes me is that I remember thinking how real FA2 was, then AH, the WB and now mostly WW2OL. They're all "games" and it's only necessary to create the basic flight model and then just wrap skins around it. The rest comes from what the big overgrown children like me want to believe as we zoom around pretending to be the Red Baron. Don't tell my wife, she tells me this all the time and I deny it :D

Doing a review of FA3
Not bad but still arcadish, mostly because the only real flying you see in in the intermediate areas.
Hope to get the review up soon, been sitting on it for a while. Work has been a killer lately.

I am still in there but about to change to AH!!!
-
I was in DF Squadron. My nick was DF_Dkit_
We had many of a foe but the one and only werre NRF
CB

I started in the original beta and lasted through 2.5. Flew with a fine group of guys/gal in the DevilDogs Squadron. Nic was WxMan_DD.
Still have an account for 3.0, but rarely fly there.
-
I'm JG27_Bodi over on FA3. At the moment, I'm trying to decide whether to take the big jump and stay on AH. As for JG27, unfortunately, most have moved on to other online sims, ie: WWII Online.
Btw, I was Bodi also on AW back in the days when it was on GEnie...

BANZAI_Yuto here...
Good to see some of you guys again
You'll find me flying in the team games in the h2h arenas with the nick Yuto, Dorkus, DKarnage, or TurnBurn - proof of how many times I've been booted for no particular reason during my two years here; I always find the need to go back in and have a word or two with the host. Anyway, gimme a hollar if you see me; you can be my wingman any day.

Hi there,
I've been a died in the wool AH player since GEnie AW went under as did GameStorm. (HT migrated to his own system, ha!).
I've tried the "freebee" version of MS CFS online via MS Network, which, is a real crapper. It does have a quick, dive-in furball deal which is OK for beginners looking to see the basics.. but the killer was the "cheat-modified" planes that was possible. So if you got outgunn'd more than once you always suspected a cheater.
I AH, it's impossible (almost? IMHO!)to cheat;)
Question to you who've played FA,, (excluding the monthly price),, if FA were FREE! And you had only 4 hrs to live,, which would you play?
AH? or FA?
Thanks,
RV6

No contest for me rv6. I would stick with AH because you can still jump in a plane and get some fights within 5 minutes of taking off. You will most likely die but the same thing happens in FA as well.
I remember flying against several of the VAC guys and TEA always getting in the Spit14 flying for the "green virus" as I would call them. Especially when there would be 60-80+ GB in a 200 person room and the rest divided up among US, JP, GE, SU. With GE and JP getting about 20 players each. I guess that is what made the GE and JP squadrons in FA so tight. We were constantly outnumbered and always able to hold our areas pretty tightly until the SU decided they were through banging their heads against the GB wall and then joined in the slaughter against either us GE or JP territories.
I still wish that HT and crew would get away from the chess piece format and institute a country setup and put the planes that belonged to that country there. BUT a wish is just that since I doubt it will ever get any further along that being a wish.

It < hopefully > will never happen here. The thought of having to force your squad to fly a particular plane or nationality of plane isn't going to fly for most squads here. I could never understand why FA forced this on the player base...kinda like there were NO allies in WWII...doesn't make much sense to me, hell, I'd take an AvA arena anytime compared to a country specific planeset that is forced on you.
-
I agree, having to fly one countries plane set would stink. When I joined VAC, they were a GB squad. I had to fly under a different name to fly any other planes.Eventually after much debate I talked them into flying all countries, now they do that on a regular basis. Also, certain countries had an upper hand in territorial combat with their plane set(SU's plane set was great for taking territory in 2.5). That was the main reason for coming to AH, not being tied to one plane set and everything being equal. How many times in FA did you hear people whining about GB and their spit14? Well, in this game all you have to do is get one yourself:cool: I think the chess pieces for team symbols was a great idea.
And the events in FA don't even come close to AH events. I'm hoping after the tiger, a t-34 will emerge. We could really set up an eastern front event.
-
BTW reschke, in FA the mustang could out turn the spit14. The 5 flap settings were a distinct advantage if you knew how to use them. The spit14 and La7 could out run the stang, but could not out turn it. Total opposite here. And no unrealistic flap speed deployments either. I also remember downing many a 109k that would BnZ me endlessly;)
-
I didn't mind having country setups with planes specific to that country but I guess I am just nuts. I guess the reason I did not mind it was in LJK we were specifically GE flyers but that did not stop us from flying other countries planes when there were no other squadron members on or if some of the other guys did not want to fly together.
You are absolutely correct about the FA events. They sucked in every area but one because they were nothing but hurry up and wait. The only area they did not suck in was the fact that they were finished in one afternoon instead of 3 or more weekend afternoon's being taken up.
On the P-51. I remember being suckered by those flaps a couple of times when flying 190's before getting used to it. I remember one guy that would routinely show up over GE territory and finally I went up after him. I was in a 190A-8 and suddenly found myself gaining on him after he broke away in a dive. Then he pulled the loop but he must have been going 400+ when he did it. I found myself missing my left wing and falling. I think I went up after him 3-4 times and fell for that same trick in one shape or another. Then they introduced the 190 D-12 and then the shoe was on the other foot. I did finally get him several times while in a 190A-8 after a couple of weeks getting plastered by those flaps.
Last thing I will pull out about FA was that I hated those damn "superman" cockpit views that you had and the all knowing all seeing 500 mile padlock "feature". But I like padlock view just not the way that FA did it where you could see directly down your 6 position no matter what plane you were in.

Good point, it's tough to make an event 4 weeks in a row. I think one 4 hour event would be cool. But the good thing is you are not required to attend all frames. What bummed me out about flying GE in FA was fighting SU planes. The La7 seemed to perform as well as the K at 20k. But once they came out with the 109f, it was a different ballgame. The 109f could out turn the yac & La7. Revenge was sweet:)
