Title: Barry Hayes 1967 2002

:(

From Torgen

Got off the phone with Mama and Papa Carrot about two hours ago, been making phone calls. When they are up to it, they will be sending an email for me to post, thanking everyone.
Hospice was able to make the pain go away for the last 12 hours, so he wasn't hurting when he passed away. He went downhill rather suddenly, but they were able to get him home so he was able to spend his last hours at home with the family.

Mama Carrot asks that those that wish to remember Barry donate to their local hospice in lieu of flowers. She said that hospice was a God-send, and they don't know how they could have coped without them.

Just got the e-mail from the old sqd network from Carrot's mother.

I was lucky enough to have been a squaddie of CT since '97 in the old RNZAF WB sqd.

After the implosion of WB's, the sqd went it's separate ways ...some to AH, some to WW2OL, but always we all kept our friendships intact, surpassing just warbirds ..but still often meeting for improptu games of everything from CS to IL2, and so I'm told some fantastic games of GPL.

I always remember his bright orange 109 in IL2, his brillant handling of his fav zero in WB, his excellent leadership of the sqd after Hotdog could no longer continue, and his unbridled enthusiasm

Carrot was in the beta of AH, and lent his name to the sqd name 486 Sqd (NZ), "Hiwa hau Maka", of which we 2 were the only members. It was really just an exscuse to have a sqd name following those all too brief kills....but that was CT, just a great mate

I shall always be grateful to have befriended Barry.

He will be sorely missed
