Looks like the game is steadily improving. New sound effects are very nice - better hit sprites, hit decals - lightning effects not spectacular but solid. Looking forward to the next version!

I am most likely setting myself up for another dissappointment but I continue to try each version.........

Now if they would also demonstrate it online realtime (5-17fps)

i use to get 1-5fps every 2-3minutes... that really pissed me off.
Anyone know where they are going to let the people who bought the game when it first came out and gave up due to how bad it sucked another try?

CRS usually has a freebie of some sort for a substantial release like this one. When it comes up someone will post about in here.
Some of the particulars of this release and some screen shots are at
http://www5.playnet.com/bv/wwiiolhq/news.jsp?BV_SessionID=@@@@1137651783.1033317633@@@@&BV_EngineID=cadcfffeghejbjjcgmcggichhl.0
The FPS are much greater with T&L for lower end machines than higher ones. My xp2100, 1 gig 333 mhz mem and geforce 4 4600 gets around 50fps. I dont see as much an improvement as those with 1 gigs etc. Raw power vs T&L improvement. It still has bugs. Whether you find them a game stopper is a matter of personal taste.

Those FPS spikes are usually associated with having to hit the HD to load textures freezing the sim for moments. If it really was that rhymic there are things that some programs run in the background that couuld do that. FastFind was notroious about hitting the hd say every 10 mins. The ram footprint is reduced with every release. 256 megs is a minimum. XP with 256 for example tho, isn't. Xp takes 100+ megs just to load, leaving not enought free ram to avoid HD hits. 512 is good, more is better. 768 with minimal running in the background seems to be the sweet spot. WW2OL is a ram hog. When a freebie comes up, post back andwe will maximize your gameplay with the system you have.

hussein, those pics of the AC flying toward the grunt were online.
They were not in the public server tho. There is going to be an "open" beta of this release next week. Open for account holders only. I hope some freebie time ASAP.
If this one disappoints, there will prolly be another one soon. There are some scout cars that are ready and one that isn't but they wont hold up this relase for them. If not this release then someday one witll trigger the threshold you need to play so that you can enjoy.

Hardcase I don't consider a private server with 2-3 users 'online.'
They should have demonstrated the action with 30+ guys on the screen, that would have impressed me way more than shooting at a truck for 10 minutes. The windows didn't seem to break from the shots though..
-
I agree. When bushman is allowed to, he usually makes an online version with more ppl in view. For now it isnt on a public server. This video was more a demo of lighting, sound etc and was not the end all. Windows dont break yet they do pass bullets tho. With any luck it will be more than 30:-) I think he just threw this together Saturday night.

I found this snippet from a Mo post..the game producer.
Mo had a few words to send along with it;
"Looks good to me." "I would only ask that we stress that the effects pass is literally about 1/4 finished." "New explosions/sounds/and debris from big hits are planned and will be visually much more impressive... Also the lighting is about 80% complete, more tweaking coloring and ambient values are all coming before release." "Otherwise I'm all for releasing it.(the video).. Maybe we should tell Dana too? Give Bushy my best!"

From TK
I think the future holds some exciting and revitalized times for those who want to return to an on-line MMP world, focused entirely on being a realistic combat flight simulation and not a mixed bag of planes, tanks and boats.
-
hardcase do you work for wwii online, cuz you sure act like you do.....
-
Do I get paid, no. Then again I worked for WB for years this way too. I just post info to wb and ah, get involved in post fests. At the end of the day, I have helped those with tech problems in our Community Forum and prowled WB, AH and CheckSix.
You "work" for AH, just as much as I "work' for WW2OL. If not, perhaps you should.
TK, I played a air only sim for 6 years. BTW, look on the ground in AH, apparently it is more than just a flight sim.

Cant this be kept on some WW2 online board? Let the suckers hang together.

An ornately painted turd, is still a turd.

I appreciate the info Hardcase. I like to keep informed on the game from someone outside the Fanboy club at WW2Online. I love both sims AH and WW2Online and if im on their board, I have no problem telling anyone there that AH is a great sim and sticking up for it when people rag on it.
Keep up the good work.

You say you like getting info from someone outside the Fanboy club?
What do you think HC is? He is by ALL definitions a Fanboy!
I agree I like getting info from other games but HC goes to far.
As far as sticking up for AH or WWIIO I have no problem with that either as long as you don't lie or try to make someone else look like a liar.
HC does both!
-
Tsk tsk tsk. You have little idea of what a WW2Online Fanboy is.
Hardcase may be pro-WW2Online and may be a fan of the game, but he is hardly one of the radical element you can find on the Ww2Online boards. They quite frankly assisted me in my decision to leave the game more than the game itself.
If something is broken. Say it so that it will be fixed. Elements of Ww2Online are broken. I have not heard Hardcase ever refute that. He simply concentrates on the positive aspects of the game, of which there are many.
Say the same thing to a WW2Online Fanboy and they declare Jihad on your prettythang and show you how truly idiotic and bizarre some radical unproductive bonehead can be.
Hardcase is not attempting to pilfer from the AH player base to boost WW2Onlines. (Tho many of you seem to think so). He is simply informing on the game.
When a player cant do that about any game, I have concerns for the security of the game board. Many doth protest to much.
Noone is going to leave AH to jump into WW2Online and HardCase isnt going to ask them to.
There are a minority of semi radicals in this game to, tho fortunately nothing on the scale of WW2Online. They have some prize idiots cruising the boards over there.
-
Thank you.
We do in deed have some real amazinhunks there. I know they drove many a good player away and I wish that was not the case. Our Community Board is a tad more stable now. We do the majority of machine tech support and direct ppl to whom they need at CRS.
Radicals, I hope they are going by the wayside At least you will get a reasonable answer in Community. No one drives OUR ppl away:-)

Its anoying to have you as a factory rep for another game on our boards. Get used to people telling you so.

You saying Mighty1 was justified in his Carrot post?
Trust me, I am not upset.

Hard,
How the hell to you get that from Pongo's post?
It IS annoying....you are annoying. That has nothing to do with Carrot's thread.
Now reply to this as quickly and surely as that dog when the bell rings.
BTW, I still have a sub to WWIIOnline, and even played tonight.
Enough to watch some Allied EI use a speed hack to take a town.
And before you spout off, it had been used all day and was a topic of conversation on the Axis side.
Just friggin' bring it down about 10 notches on someone else's board.

Our board, their board... blah blah... What's wrong with you guys? I've been with AH since early beta and built quite some friendships throughout the years. But I have buddies at WWIIO and IL2 as well - I always thought the boards, especially if there is a off-topic, to be a place to communicate with my friends... even about other games.
Since most of my buddies are staying with AH and I've been here the longest time - the HTC BBS is the first place to visit for me. I'll share any information with 'em I find about things they might be interested in.

HC might be quick on response and has quite an impressive post-count in a short time - but he's just not as radical as some AH fanboys here. Some guys are really, really jumpy if someone mentions something about another game/sim.
Why does one sim has to fight the other? Our golden days are over - we are only a small segment in the gaming industry now. I support AH (flying since early beta) as I support WWIIO (running account since it went online) - both have their flaws and both deserve to live on.

I agree here.
I don't understand why there has to be such hostility between the two sims.
People are caterogizing others immediatly as enemies when they see them say WWIIOL and something positive about it. :(
