Can't remember the name of it. If I am not mistaking it's that German WW2 cannon, put up on railways, fired, pulled into a tunnel, reload, pulled out, fire etc.

Stood and fired at Ahrnem in late war, and fired all the way over to britain from France during the earlier stages.

Took something like 5000 men to set it up.

i know i know its the gustav gun............ used to fire from a rail 2 were made and required a crew of 700 man to assemble..........i think they should add it to AH..... oh yeah it was named after gustav krupp

The "Dora"  or "Gustav Gerat" was first used at Sevastopol, firing 47 rounds in 5 days at 7 targets. This was its only 'combat' action. The shell would barely reach Dover from Calais(28-47km range depending on the type of shell). Perhaps you are thinking of the K5 guns, which could reach to 60km?

I think I mixed up two guns Milo :)

I saw a program on discovery a while ago about Germanys Siege weapons during WW2. Very intersting but as I am not into guns in general (airplane freak) I will quite easily forget :)

This one fired at Ahrnem I am pretty sure of though, right? Allied Attack planes had much trouble finding it as they withdrew it into the tunnel after every shot.

There was 25 of the K5(E)s built. At Anzio there was 2 guns nicknamed as "Anzio Annie" or "Anzio Express" by the Allied troops. It was hidden in a tunnel. These 2, "Leopold" and "Robert", were combined by the Americans and can be found at the Aberdeen Proving Ground  museum. The K5 could fire 8-15 255kg shells/hr. There was even a rocket boosted shell that went ~86km and a sabot round that could travel 160km.

This guns proved to be absolutely useless at Sevastopol. The shell energy was so high that it dug into the ground so deep that it resulted in a giant camouflet with no damage to any structures.
